My name is Lindsey and I am a beach girl in every sense of the word. One of my goals in life is to visit every beach in the world! I grew up on a barrier island of Charleston, South Carolina called Folly Beach. As a kid, I was constantly in a swimsuit soaking up the salt and sun while hardly making time for lunch. I attribute this coastal upbringing to my laid back and go with the flow outlook, or some would call it leisurely.Ā
Growing up in a tourist destination, that is now voted a #1 city by Conde Nast and Travel + Leisure readers, I was always interested in the travel industry. I have a degree in travel and tourism management from Clemson University (Go Tigers!) and work for my local tourism board. Iām still not sure what I want to be when I grow up, but it definitely involves travel!
My parents are divorced and of course neither of them single handedly took my two sisters and me to exotic destinations growing up. I’ve been to Disney World at least 30 times (and even worked there), but we never traveled internationally. That is until my (now) husband and I visited the Bahamas in 2016.
Since then, we have been on non-stop adventures from wine tasting in Napa Valley to surfing in Costa Rica to honeymooning in Seychelles to exploring castles in tiny Bornholm. We’re constantly adding to and checking things off the bucket list. Iāve had a lot of catching up to do, but have managed to hit 19 new countries across 5 continents all while using my limited PTO days.
Why am I writing this?
I am obsessed with researching and planning trips. I love the process almost as much as I love exploring a new destination itself which is why I finally took the plunge on creating this blog. I realized that people donāt seem to create blogs for fun anymore – it is always to make a career out of it. I am writing this as a hobby for the pure joy it brings me, however, I realize I am posting this online so I do hope to inspire others to see the world and learn from other cultures. I have so much advice to offer from my own travels, so I might as well share it with you here!
How will I help you?
I am a traveler, first and foremost. And only recently, a luxury travel blogger. Iām a girl living a normal life with my mortgage and full time office job. As glamorous as it sounds, I never see myself quitting my job to travel full time. I love Charleston, my house, and regularly spending time with family and friends. With that said, I believe you can balance both dreams and escape from reality as often as possible. I hope to show you how so you arenāt waiting on retirement to do the things you want to do.Ā
I value truly experiencing the heartbeat of a destination and enjoying a city the way a local would – no tourist traps here! Expect honest, unbiased reviews from a girl like you who plans and pays for her own trips. I’m also a big fan of eating good food so I hope you’re hungry!
