Is there anything more romantic than a Greece honeymoon?? There’s something alluring about the Greek Islands. From the ancient Greek mythology, to the luxurious resorts, fiery sunsets, and volcanic coastlines, I simply can’t get enough!
Greece is the perfect destination for your honeymoon, but how do you pick where to go? I’m breaking down all the best Greece honeymoon islands so you can determine what suits your unique style.
Best Greek Islands to Honeymoon
With mountain trails, sandy beaches, and plenty of historical sites, there is something for any traveler in the Greek Isles! That is what makes it so perfect for a honeymoon – you can blend lounging on the beach with plenty of adventures! Below are my favorite Greece honeymoon islands broken down so you can determine your style – and of course the mainland stops you can’t miss.
Athens
No doubt, you don’t want to spend your whole honeymoon in Athens. But, it will be your first and last stop as your gateway to paradise. This is the birthplace of the ancient Greeks so you’ll want to make time for favorite sites like the Acropolis, Parthenon, and Plaka.
Sifnos
Sifnos is known as the foodie island. I couldn’t love it more. It’s filled with amazing restaurants like Omega-3, quaint fishing villages, and excellent beaches. In addition, it’s home to about 300 churches that come in all shapes and sizes. And, yes, blue dome roofs!
The best part: Sifnos is only accessible via ferry or boat. There is no airport (or cruise ships) so only a small amount of people can reach this island at a time.
Milos
Milos is known for its beaches – there’s over 100! You’ll have the best time driving an ATV around to the many different beaches. Some are only accessible by ladders and crevices! Milos also has many caves that were old pirate hangouts. You can’t access this part of the island by land so you’ll want to book a fun day on the water!
Santorini
I’m sure you already know about Santorini. It’s home to the famous whitewashed cliff located in Oia and the jaw-dropping sunsets over the caldera. It’s definitely touristy, but for good reason! 🙂
Paros & Anti Paros
Paros also features a coastline sprawling with whitewashed buildings – it’s what the cycladic islands are known for afterall. It’s great for water sports like windsurfing and has several archaeological sites around the island.
Naxos
Naxos is the greenest of the cycladic islands with many mountain trails and olive farms. It’s also known for its golden beaches, shopping in Naxos Town, and archaeological ruins like the Apollo Temple.
Crete
If I were honeymooning in Greece right now, I would pick Crete for sure. It’s such big island that you could spend the whole vacation here! You will love its picturesque old town called Chania, wine country, ample historical sites like the Venetian Fortress, and Elafonisi beach known for its pink sand.
Rhodes
Rhodes has incredible natural beauty among the many historical sites. You will discover the ancient Acropolis of Lindos, day trip to Symi Island – a picturesque & colorful town, see the historic old town of Rhodes, and relax at beaches along the bay. It’s a great choice if you aren’t up for lounging at the beach all day everyday – plenty of adventure!
Mykonos
Like Santorini, you have likely heard about famous Mykonos. It is known as the party island for the ample beach clubs and night life. Beyond that, it’s known for its 16th century windmills that sit high on a hill over the island.
Amazing Things to do for a Greece Honeymoon
Dreamy Sunsets
Greece is known for its jaw dropping sunsets over the Aegean Sea. Seriously, we watched the sunset once and people clapped when the sun dipped below the horizon. I’m obsessed with watching the sunset, but the sunrises are equally stunning.
Sailing
You can book a day sail or sunset sail on any island. Being on the water is one of the best things to do in my opinion. If you take it a step further, you could rent a yacht to sail around from island to island for your honeymoon, too!
Fine Dining
The food on the islands is some of the best in the world. Due to the remote and coastal nature, everything is super fresh and homemade. The olives are gown on the island, the fish is caught locally, and the cheese is made from fresh goat’s milk. Goats and cows that roam free.
Wine Tasting
Greek wine is super crisp and refreshing on a hot day! Take a break from the heat and enjoy a wine tasting at the many vineyards across the islands. One of my favorite wines in the world is from Paros’ Moraitis Winery.
Beach Hopping via ATV
Each island has so many beaches and the best way to see them all is renting an ATV. Every beach is different – some with white sand, red clay, pebbles and cliffs. Visit Milos for all the best beaches.
Stargazing
This is the nerd in me, but the stars here are absolutely incredible. It is so dark out in the middle of the sea at night and you can see stars in every direction. Don’t miss the chance to lounge with a glass of wine, in a quiet place, to wish upon a shooting star.
Cultural and Historic Sites
If lounging at the beach the whole time is not for you, there are tons of important historical site across the islands. In addition, the old towns have many shops where you find local artists and souvenirs.
Most Romantic Hotels for a Honeymoon in Greece
The most romantic hotels throughout the Greek Isles to book for your honeymoon!
Verina Astra, Sifnos
My favorite island and favorite hotel. Verina Astra is a stunning property. The exterior is iconically Greek with white washed buildings and an infinity pool. The villas are tastefully decorated with minimalist decor. They are well appointed with in-room wine, spacious sitting area, and patios made for room service meals. I also love their restaurant with some of the best dishes while you overlook the Aegean Sea.
Grace Hotels, Auberge Collection, Santorini
One look at this luxury hotel and you’ll be swooning. Everything is white which I ADORE! It makes the contrast of the deep blue sea all the more dramatic. My favorite part is the villas with their very own private plunge pools! It screams honeymoon to me!
Amanzoe, Peloponesse
I would spend time on mainland Greece specifically to stay at this luxurious hotel. Each villa features its own terrace and pool along with a private chef and butler! Talk about exclusive. The epitome of a luxury resort!
Milos Breeze Hotel, Milos
Milos Breeze Hotel is my favorite place to stay in Milos. The hotel is minimalistic with spacious rooms and balconies. It also includes a complimentary breakfast buffet and infinity pool overlooking Pollonia. It is more affordable so you should splurge for a room with its own plunge pool.
Hotel Grande Bretagne, Athens
If you are staying in Athens, you’ll want to select this 5 star hotel right in the middle of town. It’s walking distance to everything you need to see and has a great rooftop bar with views over the Acropolis.
Blue Palace Elounda Luxury Collection Resort, Crete
Blue Palace is exactly that: a palace. The resort looks so regal with its palatial design.
Its soft colors and design are quintessentially Greek throughout the villas to the outdoor restaurant. This is the ultimate honeymoon destination in Crete!
It’s under the Marriott brand so you can earn or use points here.
Minos Beach Art Hotel, Crete
This chic hotel features waterfront bungalows hugging the coastline. There are 121 bungalows and villas complete with their own pools and separated from one another making it feel super intimate. Go for the superior waterfront bungalow that has sun beds steps from the ocean.

If you are looking for a luxurious resort, Nana Princess is it. This sprawling resort features 100+ stunning villas to choose from along with a world class spa. Some even feature their own saunas and steam rooms! Go for the Honeymoon Suite which has its own GYM, pool, lounge area, and sauna. You seriously do not need to leave the room at a place like this.
Casa Cook, Rhodes
Casa Cook is super trendy and stylish. The decor and vibes remind me of Tulum’s boho feel. Even more, they offer yoga and a tour to the Seven Springs. It’s adults only too!
Naxian Collection + Naxian on the Beach, Naxos
If you are going to Naxos, Naxian Collection is the place to be. There are two sister properties with breathtaking views and luxury villas. I suggest Naxian on the Beach for its amazing waterfront cabanas – I could lounge in them all day long!
Cavo Tagoo, Mykonos
I think if you are going to Mykonos, you have to stay at Cavo Tagoo. It’s so iconic Mykonos hotel to me. The suites are beautifully decorated with private pools and day beds for the ultimate honeymoon relaxation. Go here right after the wedding to decompress and then head to a more adventurous spot!
FAQ for a Greece Honeymoon
All of your questions about honeymooning in Greece, answered!
How Long Do You Need in Greece?
There is never enough time for a honeymoon to Greece. At minimum, I suggest a 10 day trip. This gives you 2 days of travel, and ~4 days on two different islands. In my opinion, you do not want to spend all your time traveling trying to hit 5 islands. Pick two and relax 🙂
Costs of a Honeymoon in Greece?
A honeymoon to Greece can be super luxurious or you can make it more affordable. It depends on your budget and selecting islands and hotels that fit those needs. It’s definitely doable on a tight budget. Always see how you can use points for flights or your hotel rooms as those are the two big expenses.

My favorite Greek island is Sifnos 100%. It’s quaint, not crowded, has amazing beaches and even better cuisine.

Again, Sifnos is the winner here as they do not have an airport. It helps keep the crowds at bay as many people choose to fly vs ferry. Additionally, the cruise ships do not come to this island so it feels much more authentic.

My favorite month in Greece is September. Kids go back to school as summer comes to a close. The islands are still open for business and the weather is warm! Prices also come down a bit as the season closes.

For a honeymoon in Greece, you can’t miss a famous island like Santorini. It’s stunning. If I were going right now, I would also pick Crete. It is big enough to be its own country! There is so much to see and do with amazing beaches, wine country, and important historical sites.
