As someone who is from Charleston, every weekend of my pregnancy was a babymoon! We love eating out at the best restaurants, visiting my favorite local spas, and shopping for sweet baby clothing during this season. I have put together my take on the perfect way to spend your babymoon in Charleston with all of my favorites for a mama to be.

Where to Stay for a Charleston Babymoon
Personally, I feel that no babymoon is complete without a visit to the spa! I am including my top choice hotels in Charleston that have a spa onsite so you can relax and pamper yourself before baby.
The Dewberry
I simply love The Dewberry! I have stayed there many times and visit their spa quite often. It’s an absolutely gorgeous hotel with a mid century modern style. Their intimate spa is an absolute dream and you’ll love the view from their rooftop bar, Citrus Club. In the evenings, cosy up in the Living Room for snacks and mocktails. I love The Dewberry Tea Spritz featuring their very own tea!
I visited the spa while pregnant and had the best prenatal massage – go for the full 90 minutes!
The Charleston Place
The Charleston Place is a luxurious hotel located in the heart of downtown Charleston. The hotel features elegant rooms and suites, a rooftop pool, spa, and several restaurants and bars.
You will love the spa and rooftop pool, club-level suites, amazing restaurants, and luxury retail stores.
Leisurely tip: book the club level rooms for VVIP treatment!
Hotel Bennett
Hotel Bennett is located on King Street overlooking beautiful Marion Square. It’s incredibly elegant with its southern take on a grand European hotel. Enjoy luxury rooms and amenities, a spa, rooftop pool, all pink bar Camellias and take in the Charleston skyline at rooftop bar, Fiat Luxe.
Leisurely tip: Be sure to make a reservation for high tea at Camellias months in advance!

Where to Eat for a Charleston Babymoon
It’s safe to say you won’t be dining out at nice restaurants for a while so make sure to take FULL advantage on your Charleston babymoon! Here are some of my favorite restaurants that are good for pregnant women with food limitations! There were several of my favorite restaurants where I really didn’t have the best options while pregnant.
Sorelle
You are eating for two so now is the best time to indulge in all the pastas. Try Sorelle for a taste of Italy with their homemade pastas. My favorite is the classic Sorelle Spaghetti (as long as your comfortable with eating burrata)! You also HAVE to try the zucchini parm!
Southbound
The hospitality at Southbound is unmatched and is one of the many parts that make it standout. The hosts greet you on the front porch with the warmest welcome making you feel like you have just arrived to your best friends house for dinner. I went for my birthday this year and they offered us bubbles to celebrate along with a handwritten card for me!
The culinary concept is focused around live fire cooking where everything is prepared over open flame which adds the perfect smoky flavor to many of the dishes. Be sure to try the desserts from the best pastry chef in Charleston, Heather Hutton!
Chez Nous
Chez Nous is easily the most romantic restaurant in Charleston (and beyond). It’s set in a tiny old Charleston style home with moody lighting. At night, you’ll find lots of dreamy candlelight! The menu changes daily, but always has 2 starters, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts – just order one of everything. 🙂
Basic Kitchen
Basic Kitchen is one of my favorite healthy options for lunch! They are very produce focused with plant based options, but not a vegan restaurant! You can get a burger, salmon salad, but also a veggie burger, cauliflower wings, or grilled tofu. I love their Basic Bowl with quinoa, chickpeas, sweet potato, and citrusy kale. Make sure to try their mocktails and wellness shots too.
Leon’s Oyster Shop
So you can’t have oysters, but no trip to Charleston is complete without a visit to Leon’s. I ate here regularly while pregnant and there’s still plenty you can have like the fried chicken, fish sandwich, siam salad, and of course soft serve ice cream. I love their spirt free drinks too – try the garden cooler with refreshing cucumber and mint!
Zero George
Zero George Restaurant is probably the closest thing to a Michelin star dining experience in Charleston. It’s the perfect place to splurge on a nice meal while in Charleston.
The menu features a tasting experience designed by Chef Vinson Petrillo. Using seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, they have put together an elevated taste of Charleston that is the closest thing to a Michelin star restaurant in the city. Oftentimes, a tasting menu can leave you feeling hungry, but nowhere in Charleston will do that to you and especially not here! I was getting full before we even got to dessert!
You can choose a reservation in their gorgeous dining room that feels like you’ve been invited over to a friends stately Charleston home or on the romantic patio under the stars!
Lowland Tavern
Lowland Tavern is one of the newest restaurants to open in Charleston. It’s led by Chef Jason Stanhope, former chef of FIG and James Beard award winner. The space is absolutely gorgeous with a diverse menu of dishes like crispy quail, lobster bucatini, steak, and plenty of small plates!
Costa
Costa is also a recently opened restaurant. It’s an Italian coastal type cuisine – think Amalfi Coast! Enjoy things like homemade pasta, eggplant parm, fresh seafood, classic meat dishes like pork milanese and more!
167 Raw
You have probably heard of the super trendy 167 Raw. While it is seafood focused, there are plenty of cooked options and seafood low in mercury that you can have while pregnant. I loved their fried shrimp roll while I was pregnant.
Sorghum & Salt
Sorghum & Salt is so underrated in Charleston. The restaurant is tucked away in a small building with intimate seating. It is a vegan and vegetarian friendly restaurant in Charleston, but they serve meat dishes as well. They even offer a fully vegan tasting menu! We ordered the gnocchi with cauliflower and the roasted parsnips with mushrooms and truffle mousse.

Shop on King Street at the best Children’s Boutiques
You will want to do a little shopping on King Street – one of America’s best shopping districts. There are tons of stores for men and women, but also children! Pick up a little souvenir for baby to be! More on my favorite shops below – keep scrolling.
Head to the Beach (if summer)
In the summer, you’ll definitely want to head to the beach to soak up some sun. Charleston has several area beaches, but Sullivan’s and Folly are my favorites.
Stroll around The Battery & South of Broad
This is a super historic and beautiful part of Charleston that can’t be missed. Be sure to stroll by rainbow row, down Tradd Street & Church Street, and relax at White Point Gardens.
Take Maternity Photos
If you are planning to take maternity photos, there’s really no better place. We have TONS of talented photographers that you can work with and even more locations that would be the perfect backdrop. Try the beach, Hampton Park, or The Battery.

Best Places to Shop for Baby and Maternity
You can’t leave without picking up a souvenir for baby to be! Make sure to get yourself a pair of my favorite pajamas that have been so ideal for pregnancy, nursing, and beyond.
Kids on King
Kids on King carries all kinds of kids clothing and toys. Pick up a super southern fashion choice for kids – a smocked dress or romper!
Under the Almond Trees
Under the Almond Trees has all of the sweetest baby gear. They have tons of clothing brands like Elegant Baby, but also carry gear like diaper bags, strollers and carseats if you need to shop those in person.
Croghan’s Jewel Box
Head to Croghan’s for heirloom type gifts you’ll keep forever. Think a silver baby rattle or piggy bank! And be sure to peruse the jewelry to pick yourself out a little “push present”!
Lake Pajamas
I am obsessed with Lake Pajamas and even more so for maternity/postpartum. I live in their maternity night gown still because it has snaps at the top for late night feedings, but also fits well to continue wearing. Buy your normal size! I also love their regular night gown which (mostly) fit me in my regular size throughout pregnancy. They also carry a baby/kids line so you can match with your sweet babe once he/she arrives!
