Singapore Airlines Business Class Review: Boeing 777-300ER
For this trip, we flew Singapore Airlines Business Class on SQ11 from Los Angeles (LAX) to Tokyo Narita (NRT) and SQ12 on the return from NRT back to LAX. I traveled with my husband and our 19-month-old daughter, who flew as a lap infant.
Pre-Flight & Boarding Experience
From the moment we arrived at LAX, the experience felt smooth and stress-free. Singapore Airlines’ dedicated Business Class check-in counter helped us breeze through the formalities.
We received priority security screening, which made traveling with a baby much easier. Boarding was equally seamless. Business Class passengers, including families with young children, were invited to board first, giving us time to settle in without feeling rushed.
Then, we were offered our choice of drinks as we settled in – champagne, always!
The overhead storage was spacious and we had plenty of room to store things at our seats.
Amenity Kit
Singapore Airlines provides a stylish and thoughtfully curated amenity kit. They include high-end skincare products, an eye mask, socks, and dental essentials. You do have to request it as they are not at every seat.
I also appreciated the plush pillow, soft blanket, and slippers waiting at the seat—small details that made a big difference on a long-haul flight.
The seats also include a sleep mask, noise cancelling headphones and water bottles.
Spacious Lie Flat Seats on Singapore Airlines Business Class
Let’s talk about the seats—the real highlight. The Business Class seats on the Boeing 777-300ER are incredibly spacious, with plenty of room to stretch out or curl up.
The layout gave us privacy, and the seat transformed into a fully lie-flat bed with the help of the flight attendants. It is not something you can adjust yourself like I’ve had on other flights with the push of a button. You do have to wait on a flight attendant to help you manually convert it.
I will say, I found the seats a bit firm. They were kind of hard and not comfortable after a 14 hour flight. Delta One is not as spacious, but definitely more comfortable if you suffer from back pain or sleep on your side like me.
Are Singapore Airlines Business Class Seats Lie Flat? You bet!
Yes, the seats lie completely flat and they’re wider than many other airlines I’ve flown. With the provided bedding, I was able to get several hours of solid sleep even sharing with my 19 month old toddler.
We’ve flown with her on Delta One and United business class seats and this was the most comfortable while offering the most privacy.
Seat Configuration
The Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300ER Business Class cabin has 48 seats arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration across 8 rows.
Singapore Airlines Business Class on the Boeing 777-300ER features a spacious 1-2-1 layout, giving every passenger direct aisle access. Couples traveling together will appreciate the middle seats, which are side-by-side but separated by a large divider that provides complete privacy when you want it.
On our flight to Tokyo, we booked window seats 15A and 16A—one right behind the other—which worked fine but was not the most ideal with a child. For the return flight, we switched to sitting with one of us on the aisle and the other at the window. This setup was perfect for passing our 19-month-old daughter back and forth during the flight because our seat aligned directly across from one another.
💺Seat Recommendation: Choose the front row (bulkhead) seat for maximum space! Our seats had this spacious bench that wrapped around the front and was soooo incredible with a child! I sat in a second row seat the first time and it was not a roomy when I slept. I had much more legroom when I snagged this seat!
Food and Beverage
One of the things I really appreciate about flying Singapore Airlines is how thoughtful and accommodating their meal service is. Whether you’re craving Japanese cuisine, Indian dishes, Western comfort food, or something lighter and plant-based, they have it all covered even for travelers with dietary restrictions like gluten-free or dairy-free. There are so many options it was hard to choose!
Being mostly plant based, I usually can’t eat the airplane food so it was nice to have the option with Singapore.
On our flight from Los Angeles to Tokyo (SQ11), I pre-ordered a vegan meal through Book the Cook, Singapore Airlines’ special meal reservation service available to Business Class passengers. It was light, healthy, and beautifully plated—wild rice with zucchini, squash, broccoli, and mushrooms, served with a spicy sauce on the side. It felt fresh and nourishing, which is not something I say often about airplane meals.
I was still sleeping when breakfast was served, but my husband was up and enjoyed the waffles.
On our return flight (SQ12), I had pre-selected the fish but ended up skipping the meal altogether. It was a late-night departure, and my daughter and I both fell asleep shortly after takeoff. Honestly, being able to rest comfortably was worth missing dinner.
Before landing, I did have a cup of coffee, and I was pleasantly surprised that it was actually pretty good for airline coffee.
Overall, the dining experience was another reminder of how well Singapore Airlines caters to all kinds of travelers and preferences. Whether you’re looking for a multi-course experience or something simple and nourishing, you’ll find something that works for you.
In-Flight Entertainment
Singapore Airlines offers an impressive selection of in-flight entertainment through its KrisWorld system. The screen was large, clear, and easy to navigate with a touchscreen or remote. I browsed through hundreds of options—new release movies, classic films, TV series, documentaries, music, and even games. There’s truly something for everyone.
I didn’t watch much on the way to Tokyo since I slept a good portion of the flight, but my husband caught up on a few movies and said the picture and sound quality were great, even with the provided noise-canceling headphones.
What I appreciated most was how family-friendly the system was. There was a dedicated kids’ section with shows and movies suitable for little ones, which is perfect if you’re traveling with children who are old enough to watch.
Baggage Allowance
Singapore Airlines ensures Business Class travelers—and those flying with infants—have a generous baggage policy:

We both carried on a rolling carry-on sized suitcase and a personal item.
Here are the exact two bags that I took on our flight. I loved this suitcase because it’s the exact dimensions allowed for Singapore Airlines which allowed me to pack as much as possible. I also took this duffel bag which was a lifesaver and the MOST organized I’ve ever been on a flight.
For my child, I also brought her diaper bag and small cooler on board at no extra cost. I’ll go more in detail on child baggage allowances in the next section. Here’s a nice chart with the allowances.

While we didn’t have the chance to visit the Singapore Airlines lounges on this trip, Business Class passengers typically enjoy access to some of the airline’s well-regarded lounges.
These lounges offer comfortable seating, a variety of food and drink options, and quiet spaces to relax before your flight. If you have a long layover or arrive early, they’re definitely worth checking out on your own journey.
Flying Singapore Airlines with a Baby Under 2 Years Old
Infant Policies
Singapore Airlines is truly one of the most baby-friendly airlines I’ve flown. If your baby is under 2 years old, they can travel as a lap infant (for a small fee or percentage of the adult fare) or in their own seat if you purchase a child fare and bring an approved car seat.
When flying with a lap infant, Singapore Airlines provides:
- Priority boarding so you have extra time to settle in without feeling rushed.
- The option to request a bassinet, available on a first-come, first-served basis, for babies who meet the weight and size limits. I was surprised when they offered us a bassinet because babies usually need to be under 20lbs, and my daughter was bigger. We didn’t use because there’s no way she’d stay in it!
- Infant seat belts that attach to the adult’s seat belt for takeoff, landing, and whenever the seat belt sign is on. The only con was how strict they were about that seatbelt!! They asked my husband while we were sleeping if I was buckled and wanted to wake me if not!
Infant Baggage Allowanc
👶 Infant Baggage (under 2 years, lap-held)
- Checked baggage:
- U.S./Canada routes: 1 bag up to 32 kg.
- Elsewhere: 1 bag up to 10 kg.
- Stroller / car seat / carry-cot: Each allowed free under infant baggage, separate from your and your baby’s checked allowance. We checked the car seat and gate checked the stroller. They were kind enough to wrap everyone’s strollers in plastic bags to prevent any damage if you didn’t bring your own!
- Cabin allowance: In addition to your 2 carry-ons, you may bring up to 6 kg of essential infant items such as food, bottles, or diapers. I recommend to bring A LOT of snacks for such a long flight 🙂
Amenities and Meals for Baby
We brought our own food for the flight, but I was so impressed by how accommodating Singapore Airlines was when it came to feeding little ones. You can actually pre-order a special meal for your child, which is such a thoughtful option for parents who want one less thing to worry about.
Even though we didn’t pre-order a meal for our daughter, the crew surprised us with jars of baby purée and some extra snacks for her. It was such a nice touch and showed how well they think through the needs of families.
Another sweet detail: when she got a little fussy (as babies do!), the crew offered her an adorable Donald Duck rattle and a few other small Disney-themed toys to help keep her entertained. It’s those small moments of kindness that really stood out on our flights.
I was also surprised when they brought us diapers and wipes for her too! Even more surprising was how spacious the changing tables were in the in-flight restroom. They actually were big enough for my very tall 1.5 year old.
Stroller and Carseats
Singapore Airlines makes traveling with baby gear easy. We were able to gate-check our stroller, which was super convenient for navigating the airport right up until boarding. The crew handled it with care and it was waiting for us at the door of the plane when we landed.
If you choose to purchase a seat for your baby, you can bring an airline-approved car seat onboard. Singapore Airlines allows you to use it during the flight, which is a great option for parents who want their little one securely buckled in their own space. We just checked our carseat all the way through.
I also appreciated that there was no extra charge for checking both a stroller and a car seat. That extra flexibility took a bit of stress out of packing for the trip.
When we arrived back in the US at LAX, we had a connecting flight with Delta. We didn’t have time to wait for the carseat so decided to leave it. When I called, they offered to put it on a United partner flight to Charleston for us for free! I was prepared to pay for return shipping or just leave it all together. It was above and beyond and they certainly didn’t have to get it back to us since we left it.
Priority Boarding
One of the perks that really made a difference when flying with our baby was priority boarding. Singapore Airlines invites families with young children to board early, and I can’t tell you how helpful that was. We had time to get settled, store our bags, set up the bassinet if needed, and organize everything without feeling rushed or holding up the line.
It’s one of those simple things that really helps parents breathe a little easier when flying with a little one.
Bassinets
Singapore Airlines offers bassinets on long-haul flights, and while they kindly offered us one, we didn’t end up using it. Our daughter was 19 months old at the time and wouldn’t have stayed in the bassinet anyway.
That said, the crew was very accommodating and made sure we knew the bassinet was available if we wanted it. For younger babies, it’s definitely a wonderful option to help them rest more comfortably and give parents a bit of a break during the flight. Be sure to call to request it in advance as they are limited! You do need to book the right seats where the bassinet is located – usually the bulkhead seats.
Nursing
While I wasn’t nursing during this flight, I appreciated that Singapore Airlines has clear policies to support nursing moms. The crew is trained to make breastfeeding or pumping as comfortable and private as possible onboard.
Whether it’s offering a quiet space, providing warm water, or helping with extra pillows and blankets, they go out of their way to ensure moms feel supported throughout the flight.
Knowing this ahead of time is reassuring for anyone traveling with a nursing baby. I’ve been there many times and it’s not easy! I definitely recommend this nursing cover and portable pumps like these one I have.
Overall experience flying Singapore Airlines with a Baby
Flying with a baby can be stressful, but Singapore Airlines made it as smooth and comfortable as possible for our family. The crew’s kindness and genuine care truly stood out even during one of our daughter’s meltdowns. I was honestly shocked by their patience and hospitality.
At 19 months, our little one had already visited five countries and been on countless flights, but no other airline crew has shown that level of warmth and understanding. Whether they were offering a comforting toy or simply checking in to see how we were doing, their support made a huge difference.
With thoughtful amenities, priority boarding, and crew members who go above and beyond, Singapore Airlines is hands down one of the best airlines for families traveling with young children.
