Where to Stay for a Folly Beach Bachelorette Party
The best area to stay for a bachelorette is close to Center Street. I would try to stay within a few blocks so you are in walking distance to restaurants, the pier and nightlife. If planning to spend most of the time on the beach or a rental house, you could pick anywhere that is front beach!
I suggest an airbnb for a bachelorette, but there are some great hotel choices as well. During the summer, many homes will only be available for weekly rentals so be sure to plan well in advance. Here are my top picks:
Best Hotel for Folly Beach Bachelorette Party
The Tides Hotel
The Tides Hotel is the premier hotel on Folly Beach. It’s located at the center of everything making it walkable to all the restaurants and the pier. Plus, it’s beachfront with a great restaurant and tiki bar!

Things to Do on a Folly Beach Bachelorette Party
Go to the Beach (obviously)
First and foremost, you definitely want to spend a day on the beach soaking up the sun! Be warned, alcohol is not permitted on the beach and there is a hefty fine if you are caught.
Take a Surf Lesson
A fun group activity, try a surf lesson for an hour. You may learn a new skill or at the very least have a good laugh! Book here to lock in your surf session.
Surf Lesson Companies on Folly:
Sunset Sail, Dolphin Cruise or Party Boat
The Charleston area is beautiful from the water. I always recommend getting on the water whether a kayak, SUP, or boat!
Water Based Tours on Folly Beach:
Walk out to the Morris Island Lighthouse
The Morris Island Lighthouse will make a great backdrop for your group photos. Head to the far east side of the island where the road ends and find a place to park. You can either take the paved path or walk along the beach to reach the lighthouse inlet. The lighthouse itself is out in the water so you won’t be able to go inside, but it is a stunning view from the beach.
Try this biking tour that takes you to Morris Island Lighthouse to spot dolphins.
Beach Yoga
Next, yoga is a perfect activity for a bachelorette on Folly Beach. Yoga on the beach will make you feel somewhat productive with a little exercise.
Catch a Festival
Finally, Folly has tons of fun festivals throughout the year that local’s love! Some of our favorites are Taste of Folly and the Sea and Sand Festival. Check the calendar for upcoming dates to plan your trip around.
Where to Eat on Folly Beach
Charleston has an amazing culinary scene. Folly Beach is no different with tons of great options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
Lost Dog Cafe
Lost Dog Cafe is easily the best breakfast on Folly Beach. Known for an extensive menu with things like biscuits n gravy, breakfast sammies, huevos rancheros, muffins, bagels, french toast – there is something everyone in your group will like. And, of course, great coffee, mimosas, and bloody mary’s to top off any bachelorette breakfast. Get there early as you will likely have to wait.
Rita’s Seaside Grill
Rita’s Seaside Grill is a great choice for groups since you can make reservations. You can go anytime of day, but I think it makes a great Sunday brunch option – omelets, eggs benedict, waffles, salads, burgers, and more.
Revelry Brewing Folly Beach
One of my favorite local Charleston breweries just opened the cutest little beach bar on Folly. Be sure to find their hidden beach bar tucked behind Coconut Joe’s (also a new spot). There’s great lounge seating for your girls group to enjoy craft beers and cocktails. My favorite beer they make is called Lazy Lover!
Pier 101
Pier 101 is a great restaurant for a group dinner. It’s located on the Folly Beach Pier making it a great spot to take group photos before dinner against the Atlantic Ocean backdrop. You can sit inside or out on the patio and they often have live music. The menu features crowd pleasers like shrimp tacos, fish sandwiches, burgers, fried seafood, salads, and shrimp and grits.
Snapper Jack’s
Snapper Jack’s is a fun spot for drinks at their two story restaurant with a rooftop deck. It is super casual and the menu is extensive with seafood, burgers & sandwiches, pasta, sushi, tacos, and more.
Taco Boy
Taco Boy is a long time Folly Beach favorite. They started on Center Street and recently moved to a brand new and much larger location to better serve the hungry crowds! The tacos are amazing, but they also have great bowls, salads, and quesadillas. Vegan/Vegetarian friendly as well! You could also do a larger catering order if you wanted to do dinner at your house one night.
The Lowlife Bar
The Lowlife Bar is perfect if you want to go somewhere casual for lunch or dinner. It’s a great atmosphere with amazing cocktails and even better food. The menu has things like avocado toast, poke bowls, shrimp rolls, nachos, falafel, and more. Vegan friendly!
Chico Feo
Chico Feo is a hidden gem on Folly Beach. They have lots of tacos, Cuban sandwiches, and vegan options!
BLU Beach Bar and Grill
BLU Beach Bar and Grill is located at The Tides Hotel and is the only place with a beachfront tiki bar! It’s super fun for cocktails (especially the frozen drinks) at the bar. If you want a more fine dining experience at the inside restaurant, that’s a great option!
Best Folly Beach Bars
Folly Beach nightlife is super fun. It’s a small area of only a handful of bars. It’s a fun, laid back vibe everywhere that your group will love.
Tiki Bar at Blu
Like I mentioned above, the Tiki Bar at Blu is super fun for frozen drinks during the day or pre/post dinner cocktails in the evening! Don’t miss this one for your Folly Beach bachelorette party!
The Bounty Bar
The Bounty Bar is new to the island moving into the former Taco Boy spot on Center Street. Go for after dinner drinks and live music!
Snapper Jack’s
In addition, Snapper Jack’s is fun for day drinking on the rooftop or they often have live music at night.
The Lowlife Bar
The Lowlife Bar is perfect if you want to go somewhere casual in your swimsuits! It’s a great atmosphere with amazing cocktails and even better food.
Coconut Joe’s
Coconut Joe’s has several different floors with the top being open air. Great place for drinks like a frozen pina colada, fun specialities like the flirty flamingo, margaritas and plenty of local and domestic beers on draft.
Hidden Little Beach Bar by Revelry Brewing Co
The all new bar by Revelry Brewing Co is a must do when on Folly. It is one of my fave Charleston breweries and they opened up the cutest little beachy spot on Center Street.

Folly Beach Travel Tips
A few tips to ensure you have a positive experience…
- Be sure to read the city’s beach rules to keep everyone safe and out of trouble. Drinking is NOT allowed on the beach and the fine is over $1,000 per beverage if you get caught.
- If you have a car, ensure that your tires are off the street when parking. It’s a $50 ticket! Also, park with the flow of traffic.
- Respect the locals that live on the beach and hospitality staff at restaurants and bars. It’s a vacation for you, but also someone’s home 🙂
- Homes are typically only available for weekly rentals in the summer. Book well in advance to ensure you secure a good option.
What to Wear for a Folly Beach Bachelorette Party
Folly Beach is really casual. It has a surfer, hippie vibe that gives the island a personality all of its own. I suggest keeping your attire pretty casual. If you dress like you’re in Miami, you will look a little out of place at the low key bars. Definitely feel free to dress up – it’s a bachelorette after all! But, don’t over do it, especially in the summertime.
