As a first time mom, I of course wanted to invest in all of the best things for pregnancy and parenthood. I was targeted nonstop with all of the trendy items for mothers-to-be. The We Are Amma nursing cover was one of the top items I had my eye on for myself. This nursing cover looked like a must have for feeding my baby in public while looking chic and unassuming. It comes with quite the price tag for what it is, so I was intrigued when I came across an ad for a VERY similar one at Quince that was half the price. I’m nothing but a savvy shopper! Was it too good to be true? Thankfully, no!
I purchased the Quince Nursing Cover and was also given the We Are Amma Cocoon so decided to do a comparison here for you guys! I hope this helps you decide which brand is best for you. Let’s go over a few key specifics when comparing the We Are Amma vs Quince Nursing Cover.
**Important Note, the gray cover pictured below is from Quince and the natural (beige color) is from Amma! The Amma one is a year older so has been washed many more times so please keep in mind.

Material – Lightweight and Breathable
First, I wanted to make sure the material would be the same or better if I decided to purchase the cheaper version that I found. Quince is made from 65% organic cotton, 32% LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose, and 3% cashmere. The 32% material is one derived using renewable sources to reduce water impact and emissions. We Are Amma is made from 65% polyester and 35% regenerative rayon. It claims to be wrinkle and stain resistant and I have found that to be true for the wrinkles. There are definitely some stains.
For me, the winner here is Quince made mostly from organic cotton which is super breathable and feels softer. In person, the material looks exactly the same. They both have a pointelle stitch that is really nice and breathable for baby.
The main difference I noticed is the seam along the arm is sewn a bit differently.
Shape and Sizing
I wanted to ensure it had the same shape as the super stylish We Are Amma Cocoon. I loved the slits in the side and the way the ends were trimmed. Also, I like where the length hit on the model right above her jeans, not being too long.
The Quince cover hits all of the same points in my book. You can wear both of them turned different ways so the hem is at an angle or shorter across the front (see images below). The Quince one has a wider opening around the neck so it can also be worn off shoulder a bit.
Both covers are considered one size fits all, however, Amma offers a plus size version to fit taller, curvy, or ladies that simply want more coverage! They are definitely more size inclusive.
Versatility
Both covers are very versatile and can be used before, during, and after your time breastfeeding. Realistically, these are both simply a poncho/shaw that women have been wearing for ages. They have now been marketed as a “stylish” nursing cover to new moms, but at the end of the day, it’s nothing new and groundbreaking.
You can also use these over a stroller or car seat if needed. It could even work as a blanket for your babe.
Colors
The main difference here is the color options. The Quince nursing shawl comes in gray, oatmeal, amber, and black. The Amma cover comes in an array of colors like natural, burgundy, navy, honey, olive, coral, black, gray, and ivory. We Are Amma wins here with color choices. I really wanted the ivory, but settled for gray with the Quince one.
Cost
We Are Amma costs $99, but they do offer a 10% discount with email sign up. If you buy multiple, you can also earn additional savings. Quince is $39 and they offer free shipping plus $20 off your first order from their site. You can’t beat the price!
The Amma cover also includes a bag for washing or carrying! It is super convenient to toss in the diaper bag and keep protected.
Sustainability
We Are Amma claims to ethically knit all of their covers in small batches in California. I do love that they are made here in the US and always prefer to support local. Quince is made in China, but they claim that “the factory is Higg FEM certified, which ensures they measure and quantify the sustainability impacts of their facility”.
