What We Love About Verina Astra Sifnos
Short on time? These are the top 5 things that I absolutely love about Verina Astra Sifnos. These are the things that make them standout as a superior hotel in Sifnos and the Greek Islands.
1. Location
Perched along the side of a cliff overlooking the Aegean Sea, Verina Astra offers unparalleled views that are simply breathtaking. Nowhere else in Sifnos provides such an incredible vantage point. The setting is stunning yet intimate and serene, allowing you to look out from your villa and see nothing but the blue sea and distant islands. It’s the perfect place to unwind and connect with nature.
2. The Rooms
Whether traveling as a couple, like on our first trip, or with family on our second, the rooms at Verina Astra are spacious and thoughtfully designed. The new pool villas are especially worth it for those seeking a quiet retreat, offering privacy and luxury in equal measure.
3. Bostani Spa
As someone who has visited spas around the world, the Bostani Spa at Verina Astra stands out as my favorite. The peaceful atmosphere and the spa suite’s spectacular views of the sea make it a truly transformative experience. It’s a haven of relaxation and rejuvenation. Plus, the massage ended with a quick facial using Elemis products!
4. Dining Options
Dining Options: The Bostani Restaurant and Bar boasts the most idyllic setting, complemented by some of the best food on the island. The farm-to-table concept shines through in every dish. I also love the thoughtful inclusion of breakfast, whether delivered to your room or enjoyed in the breakfast area—a perfect start to each day.
5. Seamless Experience and Service
From the moment you arrive, Verina Astra exemplifies what it means to be a top luxury hotel. The staff ensures a seamless experience, handling every detail with care. From coordinating transportation to personalized service, they make you feel entirely at ease.
Rooms and Villas at Verina Astra Sifnos
Rooms
The villas at Verina Astra Sifnos are all named after constellations, a detail that adds charm and character to your stay. On our first visit, we stayed in Delphinus, named for a small constellation in the Northern Hemisphere that translates to “dolphin.” This room’s design felt perfectly in tune with the serene surroundings. The night skies here are breathtaking, with stars sparkling vividly against the dark sea—a true highlight of the experience.
We entered our spacious villa through a private terrace lined with plush lounge seating and a rustic wooden dining table. This became our go-to spot for sipping wine, reading, and enjoying breakfast.
Inside, the villa is thoughtfully divided: one side features a living and sitting area with a full bathroom, while the other houses a king-sized bedroom, a larger bathroom, and an additional entry to the patio.
Dropping our bags, we popped open the complimentary bottle of wine from our fridge and savored the sweeping views over the Aegean Sea!

Pool Suites
On our second visit, we stayed in the Norma Suite, one of the newer additions to the property. Located near the restaurant and spa, the Norma and Indus suites offer a more private experience. Each features a private infinity plunge pool that overlooks the Aegean and the stunning Panagia Poulati Monastery below. You can check rates for your stay here!
The Norma Suite is spacious, with a private bedroom, a stylish living area, a modern bathroom, an outdoor shower, and multiple outdoor seating options. From Adirondack chairs to a cozy daybed beside the pool, every detail is designed for relaxation. The outdoor dining area was another favorite spot, perfect for meals with a view.
Across all rooms, the Greek aesthetic remains consistent—whitewashed walls, neutral tones, and elegant stonework that embodies the understated beauty of Greece.
Thoughtful amenities like local snacks and wines, a coffee maker, and laundry service enhance the experience, ensuring every stay feels luxurious and effortless.

Dining at Verina Astra Hotel
The restaurant at the hotel is quite impressive for breakfast and dinner.
Bostani Restaurant and Bar

Bostani Restaurant and Bar is one of the most breathtaking dining experiences on Sifnos. Set on a cliff overlooking the Aegean Sea, with Paros visible in the distance, the open-air setting allows guests to dine among olive trees under a canopy of stars.
We highly recommend making dinner reservations just before sunset to enjoy the spectacular view—be sure to check sunset times during your stay!
The bar and lounge area are equally inviting, perfect for a pre-dinner cocktail or a late-night dessert. We personally loved the cookie skillet with ice cream, a must-try treat!
Some standout dishes from our most recent visit include the whole crispy fish, fresh greens salad, cookie skillet with ice cream, and orange bread pudding. The menu reflects a farm-to-table ethos, ensuring every dish is fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared.
In-Room Dining

The in-room dining menu at Verina Astra is exceptional and distinct from the restaurant’s offerings. This variety was especially appreciated as we dined at the hotel several times during our stay since we had our little one in tow.
In-room dining was ideal after a long travel day or when we wanted to enjoy a quiet meal on our private patio.
Our favorite in-room dining experiences included grilled fish over greens, orzo pasta, Greek salad, and French fries, all beautifully presented and served with a chilled bottle of wine.
The staff thoughtfully set up the meal on our outdoor dining table, enhancing the overall experience!
Complimentary Breakfast

The Verina Astra Hotel’s complimentary breakfast ensures a seamless and enjoyable start to the day. Guests can choose to have breakfast delivered to their room or dine in the open-air breakfast area. We enjoyed alternating between the two options for variety.
The menu includes staples like pancakes, French toast, and eggs, with at least eight different omelet options. While the offerings are delicious, the selection is somewhat limited, especially for those who don’t eat eggs or prefer vegan/vegetarian options. However, the pancakes are a standout, and the freshly squeezed orange juice is simply amazing.
Activities and Experiences at Verina Astra Sifnos
There are countless ways to experience Sifnos and the hotel can help arrange the perfect itinerary!
Infinity Pool

The infinity pool at Verina Astra is truly a serene oasis that perfectly complements the hotel’s tranquil setting. During our stay in the main rooms, the pool was just steps away from our suite and often empty.
We loved spending sunny afternoons here, lounging on the comfortable sunbeds, and enjoying the unobstructed views of the Aegean Sea.
Evenings by the pool were equally magical. With a crisp glass (or two) of white wine in hand, we gazed at the stars shimmering above the sea—a truly unforgettable experience.
The pool area is thoughtfully designed with plush loungers for sunbathing and umbrellas for shade.
Guests can also order drinks or snacks poolside, making it easy to spend the entire day in this peaceful retreat.
The combination of the stunning infinity edge, the panoramic views, and the attentive service creates a perfect spot for relaxation and rejuvenation.
Boat Excursions
When in the Greek Islands, getting out on the water is an absolute must. The perspective you gain while viewing the islands from the sea and discovering secret coves is an integral part of the Greek experience.
Verina Astra can assist with arranging private boat charters tailored to your preferences, whether you want to spend a full day exploring the coastline or enjoy a tranquil sunset sail.
Pottery Classes
Sifnos is renowned for its ceramics and stoneware, making a pottery class one of the most authentic experiences you can have on the island. The hotel can connect you with a local artisan for a private lesson where you’ll learn about traditional techniques and create your own piece of Sifnian artistry.
Be sure to visit my favorite ceramic shop in Sifnos, Sifnos Stoneware. Their handcrafted items are exceptional—we use their pieces at home every day and absolutely love them!
Cooking Classes
Just as with the pottery classes, Verina Astra offers guests the opportunity to immerse themselves in Sifnian cuisine through private cooking lessons. These sessions provide a hands-on experience where you’ll learn to prepare traditional Greek dishes using fresh, local ingredients.
Under the guidance of a skilled local chef, you can master recipes for dishes like creamy fava, slow-cooked lamb, or Sifnos’ signature chickpea stew. It’s a fantastic way to take a piece of the island home with you—and impress your friends at your next dinner party!
The Bostani Spa

As someone who has visited spas worldwide, the Bostani Spa at Verina Astra stands out as a favorite.
The peaceful atmosphere and stunning sea views from the spa suite create a transformative experience.
There are only a few private treatment rooms, each with an in-room shower and floor-to-ceiling windows. These windows offer uninterrupted views of the Aegean, ensuring serenity throughout your visit.
During my 90-minute massage, I enjoyed one of the best treatments I’ve ever had. The final minutes included a mini-facial—an unexpected, relaxing touch that left my skin glowing.
My husband and I both loved the Elemis products used during the treatments. It’s truly a haven for relaxation and rejuvenation. Whether you stay at Verina Astra or not, you should schedule a spa visit!
Staff and Service
We love the staff at Verina Astra. They are so kind before, during, and after our visits!
The staff are incredibly friendly and always take the time to chat or offer thoughtful suggestions. On our first visit, the receptionist recommended the swimming cove at Poulati, a secluded rock quarry below Panagia Poulati Monastery. We likely wouldn’t have discovered it on our own, and it became a highlight of our trip.
Every time we visit, we rely on the hotel to arrange our transportation ahead of time. On our first trip, they rented an ATV for us, which was waiting at the hotel upon our arrival. They also scheduled a taxi to pick us up from the port with all of our luggage. On our second visit, they arranged a rental car ready for pickup at the port. Everything was handled with ease and efficiency.
The team is consistently accommodating, professional, and welcoming, making every stay enjoyable for us and when traveling with our child.
Location of Verina Astra Sifnos

Verina Astra is ideally located to offer both tranquility and accessibility. The hotel is perched along the side of a cliff overlooking the Aegean Sea, providing unparalleled views that are simply breathtaking. Nowhere else in Sifnos offers such an incredible vantage point.
The setting is stunning yet intimate and serene, allowing you to look out from your villa and see nothing but the blue sea and distant islands. It’s the perfect place to unwind and connect with nature.
We love that it’s away from the touristy areas, ensuring a peaceful retreat, but not so far removed that it makes getting around difficult. Verina Astra is on the ideal side of the island for the most picturesque views and easy access to Sifnos highlights like beaches, villages, and landmarks.
How to Get to Sifnos
One of my favorite things about this Cycladic island is the lack of air transfer, meaning you must arrive via ferry from Athens.
The residents welcome visitors but strive to maintain the beauty of their island. Limited transportation methods help preserve the pristine nature here.
To reach the island, a two-hour high-speed ferry from Piraeus (Athens) will drop you off in paradise in no time. Otherwise, you can take a private helicopter if you are okay with the expense.
The hotel is located in Poulati, only 3 km from Artemonas and Pollonia, the main villages.
Best Times to Visit
The best times to visit Sifnos are during the spring, summer, and fall for pleasant weather. Winter is cold, and the hotel closes for the season, along with many restaurants across the island.
Summer is the peak travel season for the Greek Islands, meaning it’s the most expensive and crowded time to visit. However, the vibrant energy and fully open establishments make it an appealing choice for many travelers.
I recommend visiting during the shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather without the extreme heat and fewer crowds. We always go in September when kids are back in school, and the summer crowds thin out.
Value for Money
Next, in our Verina Astra Sifnos Review, I want to chat about the cost. Verina Sifnos offers great value for its pricing in my opinion. If this hotel were located on a more popular island like Santorini, it would easily cost double for a villa with a private plunge pool.
Rates range from under €300 to €1,000 per night, depending on the season and room type. Keep in mind, you rate includes daily breakfast and luxury amenities like evening turn down service. Check rates for your travel dates here!
All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, coffee and tea, bluetooth speakers, refrigerator, and wifi.
The spa also delivers incredible value. A 90-minute massage for just €160 is far more affordable than many other high-end spas.
Overall, considering the luxurious experience, this hotel is a true gem!
Final Thoughts: Verina Astra Sifnos Review
Verina Astra is a gem on the island of Sifnos, offering an unforgettable experience. Perched on a cliffside, the hotel’s breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea are unrivaled, providing an intimate and serene atmosphere.
The friendly staff, spacious accommodations, and exceptional dining make it a standout choice for anyone seeking luxury and relaxation in a Sifnos hotel.
I highly recommend Verina Astra as the best boutique style hotel on Sifnos for couples, honeymooners, and families (though be sure to check the age requirements for children). The location offers tranquility and privacy, perfect for a romantic escape or a peaceful family vacation.
Some of my personal favorite highlights include the incredible views from the villas, the luxurious Bostani Spa, and the exceptional farm-to-table dining.
Whether you’re relaxing by your private pool or enjoying a rejuvenating massage, every moment here feels special. With impeccable service and a seamless experience, Verina Astra is a destination worth booking for your next luxury getaway!
