As a Charleston local, I’ve been on my fair share of dates in this beautiful city. My husband and I have been together for 10 years, so we’ve pretty much done it all! Our first date was at Chez Nous, and while that will always be special, some of our favorite dates have been picnic dinners on Sullivan’s Island or simply walking around downtown.
Whether you’re looking for a romantic evening or a fun day date, this guide has plenty of ideas to make your time together unforgettable.

Tucked away in a charming little house, Chez Nous is effortlessly romantic and the perfect Charleston date night restaurant. The menu changes daily, with just two appetizers, two entrées, and two desserts, all inspired by French, Spanish, and Italian cuisine. It’s simple, intimate, and delicious.
We went here for our first date and it’s always a go-to spot for us. We’ve dined at Chez Nous countless times over the last decade and it never disappoints!
3. Sip Cocktails with a View at Citrus Club
Take date night to the next level—literally—at Citrus Club on top of The Dewberry. With sweeping views of Charleston, refreshing citrus-infused cocktails, and a laid-back vibe, it’s the perfect place to toast to a great evening. If your date has not been before, they’ll be blown away by the stunning views from the highest rooftop in Charleston.
4. Unwind with a Couples Spa Day at The Dewberry Spa
For a little relaxation before your night out, book a spa treatment at The Dewberry Spa. The soothing atmosphere, top-tier treatments, and plush robes make it a perfect treat. I go to this spa several times a year and we also always book massages here instead of traditional Christmas gifts. Then, we grab a drink in the cozy Living Room or on the rooftop!
5. Go Kayaking Through the Marshes

Stroll along the boardwalk at Shem Creek, where dolphins love to play. Grab a casual dinner at one of the waterfront restaurants and soak up the laid-back Lowcountry vibes.

Take a romantic walk through Middleton Place while sipping wine and exploring America’s oldest landscaped gardens. The scenery is stunning, and the wine makes it even better. Try something different with a wine blending workshop at Grand Bohemian Hotel. You’ll learn about different varietals, mix your own custom blend, and take home a bottle as a souvenir. It’s a great hands on activity for a fun date night idea in Charleston, SC.

This is one of my favorite Charleston date night ideas!
Pack up a charcuterie board and a bottle of wine and find a shady spot in Hampton Park. With its towering oaks and vibrant flowers, it’s one of the most peaceful places in Charleston especially during spring.
We picnic here often and love to grab a bottle of wine from our friends at Graft or Goat.Sheep.Cow. It’s even better during summer when it stays light out until nearly 9pm.
14. See a Show at Dock Street Theatre
For a classic date night, catch a live performance at the historic Dock Street Theatre. Whether it’s a play or a musical, the ambiance alone makes for a magical evening. I especially love it at Christmas time in Charleston when you can see A Christmas Carol!
15. Walk and Picnic on Sullivan’s Island
Spend an afternoon exploring Sullivan’s Island, then set up a picnic on the beach. The quiet stretch of sand, combined with a gorgeous sunset, makes for a simple yet romantic date.
This is best from April through summer when it stays day light a bit later! We like to grab all the things for tacos at Publix or get take out from one of our favorite Sullivan’s Island restaurants. Don’t forget to bring a blanket!
16. Explore First Friday Art Walk and Grab Dinner
On the first Friday of each month, Charleston’s art galleries open their doors for a free art walk. Stroll through the exhibits with a glass of wine, then head to dinner at one of the many nearby restaurants.
17. Enjoy Handmade Pasta at Sorelle
If you love Italian food, make a reservation at Sorelle. Their handmade pasta and impressive wine list make for a dreamy dinner date at one of Charleston’s best date night restaurants for Italian cuisine.
18. Laugh Together at Theatre 99
For a lighthearted date night, check out an improv comedy show at Theatre 99. It’s guaranteed to bring plenty of laughs and make for a fun, relaxed evening. They sell a couple snacks plus local beer and wine at the bar, but it is cash only!

If you’re into soccer, a Charleston Battery game is a great way to spend the evening. The energy of the crowd makes it a fun and exciting date. There are always food trucks setup before the game so it’s fun even if you aren’t that into soccer!
21. Take a Romantic Walk on Pitt Street Bridge
For a scenic and peaceful evening, walk along the Pitt Street Bridge in Mount Pleasant. The sunset views over the marsh are breathtaking as you can see the Charleston skyline and Sullivan’s Island from this spot.

We love to sit at the bar and just have a couple desserts at the end of the night! They seriously have the best desserts in Charleston and the menu is extensive!

If you’re a fan of fresh seafood, grab a seat at The Ordinary and order a dozen oysters. Paired with a crisp glass of wine, it’s a simple but elegant date night idea. We love to sit at the bar for a casual date night and you can usually grab a seat (with a little patience) if you don’t have reservations.
