One of the things I loved most about the Tokyo EDITION Ginza is its style. You can expect modern luxury with thoughtful Japanese touches throughout the hotel. The design feels sleek and intentional, but still warm and comfortable.
The Tokyo EDITION is part of the EDITION by Marriott brand, and it’s one of the most impressive hotel brands I’ve experienced within a large hotel group. Even though it’s backed by Marriott, the hotels feel boutique, intimate, and design-forward. Service is polished but relaxed, and every space feels curated rather than corporate.
The Tokyo EDITION Ginza stands out among Tokyo hotels because of its scale and location. Ginza is one of the most walkable neighborhoods in the city, and we loved being able to step outside and explore. From great restaurants to shopping and nearby transit, so many of the things we wanted to see and do were just a short walk away.

Location in the Heart of Ginza
One of the biggest reasons we chose the Tokyo EDITION Ginza was the location. Ginza is one of the most polished neighborhoods in Tokyo, known for its world-class shopping, beautiful architecture, and incredibly clean streets. It’s a great base if you want to explore the city on foot while staying somewhere that still feels calm and refined.
You’re steps from some of Tokyo’s most famous shopping areas, including Ginza Six and the designer boutiques lining Chuo-Dori. Even if shopping isn’t your priority, it’s such a fun area to walk around and marvel at the over the top stores! Everything feels sleek and beautifully designed, from the storefronts to the quiet side streets.
The walkability here is fantastic. One morning we woke up early and walked to Tsukiji Outer Market for a sushi breakfast, which was one of our favorite Tokyo experiences. You’re also close to Kabuki-za Theater and within easy reach of the Imperial Palace area.
We chose the EDITION Tokyo Ginza over the other Tokyo EDITION property because we preferred this neighborhood and loved that the hotel felt smaller and more boutique. For us, it struck the right balance of being central while still feeling intimate.
The location also worked well for transportation. It was easy to reach the Tokyo EDITION Ginza from the airport and the nearby metro stations make it simple to get around the city. We only stayed one night here when we first arrived in Japan before heading to Kyoto, and it was the perfect landing spot after a long travel day.
Later in the trip, we spent three more nights in Tokyo and stayed at the Four Seasons Otemachi. Experiencing two different Tokyo hotels gave us a great perspective, but the boutique feel of the Tokyo EDITION Ginza is something that really stood out.

You can expect modern minimalism paired with subtle Japanese touches. Walnut wood paneling is complemented by white furnishings and beautiful marble accents. The palette is soft and neutral, which makes the space feel peaceful after a busy day in the city.
Lighting was one of my favorite parts that you almost don’t realize! The soft lights throughout the room is warm and intentional, creating a cozy atmosphere in the evenings after experiencing the hustle and bustle of the city. Artwork and decorative details are understated but sophisticated, adding character without making the space feel cluttered! The stunning orchids in the rooms are real!

Comfort is clearly a priority at the Tokyo EDITION. The bed was incredibly comfortable, with crisp linens that made it easy to fall asleep after a long travel day.
The rooms also feel very functional, with reliable Wi-Fi, easy in-room controls, and plenty of outlets for charging devices. It’s the kind of setup that works well whether you’re relaxing, catching up on work, or planning the next day’s adventures.
The bathroom design is just as impressive. You’ll find a soaking tub (parents, rejoice!), rain shower, and beautiful marble finishes that make the space feel spa-like. It’s exactly what you want after a full day exploring Tokyo.

Sophie at EDITION (Main Restaurant)
Sophie at EDITION is the hotel’s main restaurant, located on the 14th floor. The space is stunning. It’s filled with natural light and designed with white oak wood, soft green accents, and a calm, airy feel that contrasts nicely with the darker, moodier lobby downstairs.
The restaurant is inspired by a modern brasserie and highlights Japan’s incredible seasonal ingredients. Local produce sourced from small regional farms shapes the menus from morning through dinner, alongside a seasonally changing cocktail program.
Lounges & Bars
The EDITION Tokyo Ginza has several lounge and bar spaces, each with a different personality.
Punch Room is EDITION’s globally known cocktail bar concept. The space draws inspiration from the elegance of 19th-century London private clubs and focuses on the art of punch-based cocktails. Unfortunately, since we were traveling with a toddler in Japan and only stayed one night, we didn’t get the chance to experience it ourselves. It’s definitely on my list for a future visit.
The Lobby Bar quickly became one of my favorite spots in the hotel. The gold-colored bar is surrounded by ivory armchairs and a sweeping statement sofa, making it feel cozy and stylish at the same time. During the day, they serve coffee made with beans from a local roastery along with pastries for a quick breakfast. We stopped here for a glass of champagne, which felt like the perfect way to kick off our first night in Tokyo.
Then there’s The Roof, located on the 15th floor. This space is such a gem. It feels like a hidden garden in the middle of the city, with greenery, comfortable seating, and incredible views of the skyline and Tokyo Tower. It’s one of the most unique spaces at the EDITION Tokyo Ginza and a beautiful place to relax in the evening.
Room Service
We ordered room service a couple of times during our stay at the Tokyo EDITION Ginza and it was fantastic. Everything arrived quickly and was beautifully presented.
My favorite was the crispy fish sandwich with fries, which was exactly what I wanted after a long travel day. The team was also incredibly accommodating with our toddler, who at that stage was basically surviving on steamed broccoli. They happily prepared simple options for her, which made the whole experience much easier for us as parents.
Little touches like that really stood out and are part of what made our stay at the Tokyo EDITION Ginza feel so welcoming.
Family-Friendly Features & Amenities
If you’re wondering whether the Tokyo EDITION Ginza works for families, our experience was a very positive one. We stayed here with our 18-month-old, and the hotel made traveling with a toddler feel surprisingly easy.
Even though the Tokyo EDITION has a stylish, boutique feel that many couples love, the team was incredibly welcoming to our little one. They set up a cozy crib in our suite before we arrived and provided thoughtful amenities like baby bath toiletries, a bottle warmer, and a diaper pail. Those small details made a big difference during our stay.
They were also incredibly helpful with gear. We had a stroller and car seat with us, and the staff happily stored both downstairs so we didn’t have to keep them in our suite taking up space. When you’re traveling with a toddler, that kind of help makes things so much easier!
The suite layout also helped a lot for traveling with a toddler. Having a separate living area gave us space to relax after bedtime without worrying about waking her up. Plus, the toilet was separated from the main bathroom in a way that allowed us to access the bathroom without going into the room while she was asleep! Huge win! If you’re visiting Tokyo with a young child, I highly recommend booking a suite at the EDITION Tokyo Ginza for that extra flexibility.
While the hotel itself doesn’t focus heavily on children’s programming, the staff was very accommodating whenever we needed something. Room service was happy to prepare simple toddler-friendly foods, which made meals easy during our short stay.
The location in Ginza is also great for families who like to explore on foot like us. You’re within walking distance of Tsukiji Outer Market, which was such a fun place to visit early in the morning. There are also plenty of shops, cafés, and quiet streets nearby that make strolling with a stroller easy.
My honest take is that the Tokyo EDITION Ginza works best for families who usually prefer stylish boutique hotels but want somewhere that can still comfortably accommodate a young child. If you love beautiful boutique hotels but want the flexibility to bring a little one along, the Tokyo EDITION Ginza is a great fit!

Why We Chose the Tokyo EDITION Ginza Over the Tokyo EDITION Toranomon
When planning our stay in Tokyo, we debated between the two EDITION properties in the city: the Tokyo EDITION Ginza and the Tokyo EDITION Toranomon. Both are beautiful luxury hotels in Tokyo, but they offer slightly different experiences. We didn’t stay at both so I am speaking from our personal decision making process.
In the end, we chose the Tokyo EDITION Ginza because we were drawn to the boutique feel of the property. With just 86 rooms, it feels much smaller and more intimate than the Toranomon location. We tend to gravitate toward boutique hotels and the scale of the EDITION Tokyo Ginza immediately appealed to us.
The location was another big factor. Ginza is one of Tokyo’s most iconic neighborhoods, known for its world-class shopping, restaurants, and incredibly walkable streets. After a long international flight, we loved being able to step outside the hotel and immediately explore the area on foot. One morning, we even walked to Tsukiji Outer Market for sushi breakfast, which ended up being one of our favorite moments in Tokyo.
The Tokyo EDITION Toranomon is stunning as well and is known for its incredible city views and rooftop spaces. But for this particular trip, the Ginza location and the smaller, more intimate atmosphere of the hotel felt like a better fit for us.
If you love stylish boutique hotels in Tokyo with a great walkable location, the Tokyo EDITION Ginza is a fantastic choice. If you prefer a larger luxury hotel that feels a bit more trendy/young with dramatic skyline views, the Toranomon property may be the better option. Both are excellent, but the EDITION Tokyo Ginza felt exactly right for the kind of stay we wanted.
