Day 1: Exploring the Seine River and Eiffel Tower
Let’s get started with your 3 day Paris itinerary for first timers. Here I will be sharing all about our real life trip with the things we did and loved!
We embraced a slow travel pace, taking time to truly experience the city as a local might. For me, this means wandering around iconic landmarks, savoring local flavors, and getting a little lost—a relaxed and leisurely approach to exploring Paris!
Arrive to Paris
We arrived in Paris and opted for a taxi from the airport to our hotel, The Hoxton Paris. It was the quickest way to get there after the long flight, and I was so excited to start the adventure.
When we checked in, I immediately loved the vibe of the hotel—it’s a beautiful mix of modern design and Parisian charm. After getting settled, I felt ready to dive right into Paris.

Lunch & Drinks
I couldn’t resist heading straight to The Hoxton’s charming courtyard for a drink and a light bite. This is one of my favorite parts of the hotel—the laid-back, cozy vibe feels so quintessentially Parisian.
The courtyard is surrounded by lush greenery and citrus trees, and it’s the perfect place to sip on something refreshing and just take in the atmosphere.
We enjoyed a casual lunch here, chatting and soaking in the Parisian sun—it was the ideal way to ease into the city!

Parisian Sights: Seine River, Eiffel Tower, Love Lock Bridge
After lunch, we set off for a leisurely walk along the Seine River. I absolutely loved this part of the day—there’s something magical about walking along the river and taking in those iconic Parisian sights for the first time.
We passed by the Ferris wheel in Tuileries Garden, which was a fun sight, especially with the colorful lights twinkling in the distance.
We also made our way to the Love Lock Bridge, where lovers from all over the world attach locks as a symbol of their affection. It was such a romantic and unique moment, and we couldn’t resist snapping a few photos!
Of course, we also passed the Louvre, the Notre-Dame, and the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower was as impressive as I imagined, standing tall against the clear blue sky turning to dusk. If you’d like to take the trip to the top, get your tickets here!
While walking along the Seine or passing through the Tuileries Garden, make a stop at Place de la Concorde. This historic square played a central role during the French Revolution as the site of public executions, including that of King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.
If it is your first trip to Paris, walking along the Seine is an easy way to check off some must-see sights while taking in the beauty of the city.

Dinner Cruise along the Seine River
If you prefer to have dinner on the Seine River, skip the next part with my dinner recommendation. We did not do a dinner cruise because I felt like with only 3 days, Paris has too many good restaurants and it just was not enough time!
If you are interested, this is a top rated cruise and I’ve heard the food is actually incredible – as expected in Paris! Not to mention they have a sommelier and you can sip amazing champagne while seeing the Eiffel Tower sparkle at night!
They have a few options, but I would book this romantic sunset cruise with a 4 course dinner!
There is also live music and photographer on board to capture fun memories for you.

Dinner at Vantre
For dinner, we made our way to Vantre. The restaurant has such a cozy, intimate atmosphere, and I could tell it was the perfect spot for our first Parisian dinner.
The food was incredible—we enjoyed a delicious mix of French dishes in a relaxed setting that really set the tone for the rest of our trip. The vibe was casual but refined, and it was such a welcoming introduction to Parisian dining.
It was a perfect first day to get acclimated to the city—walking along the Seine, admiring the Eiffel Tower, and enjoying great food. A perfect start to our 3 days in Paris!
Day 2: Montmartre, Luxembourg Gardens, and Notre-Dame
On Day 2 of our 3-day Paris itinerary, we explored the charming Montmartre district, enjoyed a relaxing picnic in Luxembourg Gardens, and marveled at the grandeur of Notre-Dame. From panoramic views to iconic landmarks, this day was all about soaking in the beauty and history of Paris!
Breakfast
We started our day with a hearty breakfast at The Hoxton Paris. The pastries were fresh, the coffee was strong, and the juice was so refreshing—exactly what we needed to fuel up for a day of exploring. The café at The Hoxton has a wonderful vibe that’s perfect for starting the day off right.
Montmartre and Sacré-Cœur Basilica
After breakfast, we hopped in a taxi (or you could take the metro) to Montmartre, which is a neighborhood that feels straight out of a movie. It’s charming and picturesque, with cobblestone streets, local cafés, and an overall whimsical atmosphere.
We wandered through the winding alleys, stopping at local shops and cafés, and made our way up to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica. The views from the top of the hill were breathtaking—Paris spread out in front of us in all its glory.
🎨 Pro tip: Montmartre is an amazing place to shop for art! We have some in our home and artwork always makes the perfect souvenir while traveling IMO!
Lunch at La Maison Rose
For lunch, we stopped at La Maison Rose, a charming pink café that has been a local favorite for years. This place is so cozy and welcoming, and the food was just as delightful.
We enjoyed some classic French dishes while taking in the ambiance—there’s something so special about having a meal in such an iconic Parisian spot. It’s easily the cutest cafe in the world!!

Arc de Triomphe
On our way back from Montmartre, we decided to make a quick stop by the Arc de Triomphe. The grandeur of this monument is incredible, and the panoramic views of Paris from the top are for sure worth every step.
We chose not to go to the top because seeing it up close was enough for me! iI you would like to do it, here are a few tips.
🇫🇷 Tips for seeing the Arc de Triomphe:
- Buy tickets in advance so you can skip the line! Snag them here.
- It’s located in the middle of a busy intersection and you’ll take the underground tunnel to get across – don’t try to go through traffic! It took us a while to figure it out – typical United States tourists!

Picnic in Luxembourg Gardens
Afterward, we popped into L’Etiquette wine shop to pick up a bottle of wine. They have such a great selection, and the staff was super helpful in recommending something perfect for our afternoon picnic. They also supplied us with a wine bottle opener and cups with their logo!
We then headed to Luxembourg Gardens, a beautiful park that’s perfect for relaxing. With its manicured lawns, shaded paths, and tranquil fountains, it felt like the ideal spot to enjoy some wine, cheese, and snacks. We spread out a blanket, savored the moment, and just soaked in the beauty of Paris.
There were so many people enjoying a picnic – locals and visitors alike! This was one of my favorite parts of our Paris itinerary and I can’t recommend it enough!

Notre-Dame
On our way back, we stopped by the iconic Notre-Dame Cathedral. At the time it was closed, so we just admired the exterior. The restoration is now completed after the 2019 fire and you can see the grandeur of the cathedral once again.
✅ Get your guided tickets to Notre Dame Cathedral here!
Ice Cream Break at Berthillon
Afterward, we indulged in one of Paris’s best treats—ice cream from Berthillon. It’s world-famous for a reason, and it was the perfect way to cool down and indulge in a sweet Parisian treat.
Dinner at Frenchie Bar à Vins
For dinner, we headed to Frenchie Bar à Vins. This place is a hidden gem that is casual, chic, and with the best small plates and natural wines. The atmosphere was so relaxed, yet the food was top-notch. It was the perfect way to cap off another perfect day in Paris and one of my absolute favorite meals in Paris!
Day 3: Le Marais and the Louvre
On Day 3, get ready to explore one of Paris’s most vibrant neighborhoods, Le Marais, before immersing yourself in world-class art at the Louvre. From charming streets to iconic masterpieces, it’s a day packed with Parisian culture and beauty.
Croissants for Breakfast
We started our day with the most quintessential Parisian breakfast of fresh croissants and coffee from a nearby bakery. It is a must do Paris ritual and the perfect fuel for a day full of exploring!
Shopping and Wandering Le Marais
After breakfast, we took a stroll to the lively Le Marais district. I absolutely loved this area! It has such a charming vibe with its narrow cobblestone streets and a mix of art galleries and unique boutiques. We spent hours just wandering, popping into little shops, and soaking up the atmosphere.
A highlight was definitely Place des Vosges. It’s one of the oldest and most beautiful squares in Paris, and I just had to sit on one of the benches and take in the view for a while. The entire area has this relaxed, bohemian charm that makes it such a perfect place to get lost in.

Lunch at a French Cafe
By midday, we were ready for lunch, so we stopped at a cozy café near Place des Vosges. We sat outside, enjoying the sunshine and the view of the park, and had some classic French café fare. There are so many cute cafes in Paris that you will stumble upon!
I went with a croque monsieur (I mean, you can’t go wrong!), and my husband had quiche. Of course we enjoyed a glass of wine as well!
It was the perfect Parisian lunch, light and delicious, and we enjoyed every minute of it.
Louvre Museum
After lunch, we headed to the Louvre Museum. It’s honestly a must-see when you’re in Paris. I was so excited to finally see the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo in person! The museum is huge, and we could have spent hours there (and we kind of did!).
It is the kind of museum that is worth a guided tour because there is so much to see and learn!
✨ PRO TIP: When you visit, make sure to book tickets in advance—trust me, it’ll save you a lot of time. We planned to go on our first day, but tickets had already SOLD OUT for the day. So, just go ahead and secure your tickets before you get there! You can check rates here!

Dinner at Clamato or L’As du Fallafel
To finish off our last evening in Paris, we had falafel pitas for dinner at L’As du Fallafel on our way back to the hotel. We were exhausted so went for something easy and it was SO good!
Another option that I recommend is Clamato, a chic seafood restaurant. The vibe is casual yet stylish, and the dishes are fresh and seasonal.
Night Cap
Afterward, we decided to cap off our Paris adventure with some drinks at Little Red Door. It’s one of the coolest cocktail bars in the city, and the atmosphere was so much fun.
That was our final day in Paris, and it was the perfect way to end our trip. With this 3-day Paris itinerary, we got a wonderful mix of iconic sights, charming neighborhoods, delicious food, and unforgettable moments!

Where to Stay in Paris
Finding the perfect place to stay is key to having an unforgettable trip to Paris. Whether you’re seeking a mix of modern charm or the epitome of luxury, these options are what I would personally recommend from budget friendly to luxury!
1. The Hoxton Paris
This hotel is where we stayed last time and it offers a beautiful blend of modern flair and Parisian charm, making it the perfect choice for those looking to experience both.
Located just far enough from the Seine to offer a peaceful escape, but still within walking distance of major attractions like the Louvre and Notre-Dame, The Hoxton Paris offers a vibrant yet relaxing atmosphere. Plus, the stylish decor and cozy courtyard make it a chic, comfortable base for exploring the city.
2. The Ritz Paris
If you’re looking for unparalleled luxury, The Ritz Paris is the ultimate Parisian experience. Known for its elegance, world-class service, and historic significance, this hotel offers more than just a place to stay—it’s an experience in itself.
Located in the heart of the city, close to Place Vendôme, The Ritz is perfect for those wanting to indulge in true Parisian grandeur.
3. Cheval Blanc Paris
For those seeking a lavish stay near the Louvre, Cheval Blanc Paris is a stunning 5-star hotel that delivers exceptional service and comfort. With breathtaking views of the Seine and an array of amenities, this is a top choice for luxury travelers.
If you’re looking for a combination of art, culture, and high-end indulgence, this hotel’s location and sophisticated style are second to none.
4. Hotel Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel
One of my favorite hotel brands, Hotel Crillon is everything you’d expect from a Parisian palace. Its chic courtyard transports you to another world, offering an atmosphere of quiet elegance.
With its combination of historic architecture and modern comforts, it’s an unforgettable stay. Plus, take a look at the insanely amazing spa!
Located just steps from the Place de la Concorde, Hotel Crillon is perfectly positioned for exploring the city’s landmarks while providing a serene retreat.
5. Hotel Le Meurice
Located near both the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, Hotel Le Meurice is ideal for those who want the best of both worlds: luxury and an incredible location.
The hotel exudes classic Parisian elegance, and a room with a balcony overlooking the Eiffel Tower is a dream come true. Whether you’re looking to indulge in the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant or simply enjoy the stunning surroundings, Hotel Le Meurice will make your Paris stay unforgettable.
Each of these hotels offers its own unique charm, so whether you’re after chic style, luxury, or a prime location, you’ll find the perfect home base for your 3 days in Paris!
How to Get Around in Paris
Paris is an incredibly walkable city given its size, making it easy to explore on foot. Many of the top attractions are within walking distance of each other, especially in neighborhoods like Le Marais, Montmartre, and around the Seine. We walked everywhere except the day we visited Montmartre and the Arc de Triomphe!
I recommend packing comfortable shoes because you’ll likely find yourself wandering through charming streets, passing beautiful cafés, and stumbling upon hidden gems. My back was aching by the end of our trip because my shoes did not quite cut it!
For those moments when walking isn’t ideal, taxis are a convenient option. They can be hailed directly on the street or booked via an app, but be prepared for potential wait times, especially during peak hours.
Public transportation in Paris is top-notch. The metro is fast, efficient, and relatively easy to navigate, with clear signs in both French and English. There are 16 lines that cover most of the city, and it’s a great way to get to areas like the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, or Montmartre. If you plan on using public transport frequently, it’s worth getting a Paris Visite pass, which gives you unlimited access to the metro, buses, and RER trains for a set number of days.
For a more scenic mode of transport, consider taking a river cruise on the Seine. It’s not only a beautiful way to travel, but it also allows you to see landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame from a new perspective.
Day Trips from Paris and Add-Ons
If you have extra time in Paris or want to explore beyond the city, there are incredible day trips to consider. These options add history, culture, and beauty to your Parisian adventure.
However, with only 3 days, I would spend more time in the city unless you are really dying to see a place!
Versailles
A visit to the Palace of Versailles is a must for anyone wanting to experience the opulence of French royalty. Wander the Hall of Mirrors, explore the lush gardens, and visit Marie Antoinette’s Petit Trianon. It’s only a 40-minute train ride from Paris.
Pro tip: Book your tickets in advance and arrive early to avoid crowds.
Normandy
History buffs and nature lovers will find Normandy an unforgettable day trip. Visit the D-Day landing beaches like Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery, a moving tribute to World War II soldiers.
Stop by the charming town of Bayeux to see its famous tapestry, or explore the picturesque port of Honfleur, with its half-timbered houses and seaside charm.
Normandy is about 2-3 hours by train or car, so it’s ideal for a full-day adventure.
Get tickets in advance with transportation and lunch included.
Mont Saint-Michel
Rising dramatically from the sea, Mont Saint-Michel is one of France’s most breathtaking landmarks. This medieval abbey perched on a tidal island feels like something out of a fairy tale.
Stroll the winding cobblestone streets, admire the views, and experience the magic of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
While it’s a longer trip—about 3.5 hours by train and bus—it’s well worth the journey for its unique beauty.
Get tickets with transportation to Mont Saint-Michel by an English Speaking Guide
Giverny
For a serene escape, head to Giverny, where Claude Monet’s home and gardens await. You’ll recognize the water lily ponds and Japanese bridges from his paintings.
The house offers a glimpse into the artist’s life, while the gardens are breathtaking, especially in spring and summer.
Giverny is about an hour from Paris by train.
Champagne Region
Wine enthusiasts will love a day trip to the Champagne region, home to the world’s finest bubbly. Visit cellars in Reims or Épernay, tour the vineyards, and sample the best Champagnes.
It’s about an hour by train and a great mix of indulgence and culture.
Disneyland Paris
Perfect for families or Disney fans, Disneyland Paris is just a 40-minute train ride from the city. Enjoy classic rides, parades, and the magic of Disney with a European twist.
Château de Fontainebleau
For a quieter alternative to Versailles, visit the Château de Fontainebleau, a royal palace with over 1,500 rooms and serene gardens. It’s surrounded by a forest, perfect for hiking or a leisurely stroll. About an hour from Paris by train, it’s ideal for a relaxed day trip.
Add-Ons Within Paris

What to Pack for Paris
Packing for Paris means finding a balance between practicality and style. The city is known for its effortless chic style, so you’ll want to pack versatile pieces that are both comfortable and fashionable.
For planning your wardrobe, stick to neutral colors and classic prints like stripes, floral or gingham to blend in with the Parisians! Pops of color like cute red shoes will put your right on trend.
I had so much fun packing and planning my outfits for Paris!
Here are few items you must have for Paris:
1. Comfortable Shoes
Paris is a city made for walking, so a pair of comfortable shoes is a must. Opt for stylish sneakers, ballet flats, or comfortable sandals, depending on the season. Make sure they’re durable enough for all the cobblestone streets and walking tours. These are the ones that I wear everywhere!
2. Sunglassess
Whether you are lounging at a café or strolling along the Seine, sunglasses are essential for sunny days in Paris. A pair of classic aviators or oversized frames will keep you protected while adding that Parisian flair.
3. Adapters
Don’t forget a power adapter for your electronics! Paris uses the standard European two-pronged plug, so be sure to pack the right adapter to keep your devices charged throughout your trip. Here is the one we have and I like that it has USB ports!
4. Crossbody Purse or Backpack
A crossbody purse or small backpack is perfect for carrying your essentials while keeping your hands free. Look for something secure, with zippers or closures, as you’ll be navigating crowded spots like markets and tourist sites.
5. Pocket Fan (Summer)
If you’re visiting Paris in the summer, it can get hot. A pocket fan is a life-saver, especially for those moments when you’re waiting in line or taking in the sights. We went in late June one year and it was so hot I wished I had one!
6. Disposable Camera
For a nostalgic touch, pack a disposable camera to capture candid moments and scenic shots. There’s something special about using film in the age of digital photography, and it adds a unique charm to your photos. I like this one that’s actually not disposable so you can reuse it!
7. Light Jacket or Scarf
Even in the summer, evenings in Paris can get chilly, especially by the river or up on Montmartre. A light jacket or scarf will keep you comfortable without sacrificing style.
8. Portable Water Bottle
Staying hydrated while you explore is important. A portable water bottle is easy to refill and cuts down on single-use plastic, so it’s both eco-friendly and practical.
9. A Good Book
Whether you’re relaxing in Luxembourg Gardens or sipping a café au lait in Montmartre, having a good book to read is the perfect way to enjoy Paris at your own pace. Checkout these ones set in Paris!
Pack these essentials, and you’ll be ready to experience Paris in comfort, style, and with a few fun items to make your trip even more memorable!

Paris Travel Tips
Visiting Paris can be an incredible experience, but a little planning goes a long way to make your trip smoother and more enjoyable. Here are some essential tips to help you make the most of your time in this amazing city:
1. Paris Museum Pass
If you plan on visiting multiple attractions, consider investing in a Paris Pass. This pass gives you access to several top sights like the Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, and the Arc de Triomphe, while skipping long ticket lines. It also includes public transport, so it’s a great way to save time and money.
🎟 Grab your Paris Museum Pass here!
2. Make Reservations in Advance
Paris is always buzzing with tourists, so making reservations ahead of time, especially for popular restaurants and attractions, is highly recommended. For example, booking a table at a trendy restaurant or for a Seine river cruise ensures you won’t miss out.
3. Buy Tickets for the Louvre in Advance!!
The Louvre is one of the most visited museums in the world, and tickets can sell out quickly. Be sure to purchase your tickets in advance to avoid long lines and guarantee your entry. Also, consider booking a timed entry slot to avoid the crowds.
🎟 Secure tickets to the Louvre!
4. Watch Out for Pickpockets
As with any major tourist destination, pickpocketing can be a concern in Paris. Be vigilant, especially in crowded places like the metro, around popular attractions, and on busy streets. Keep your valuables secure, and consider using a crossbody bag with a zipper or anti-theft backpack.
5. Know the Arrondissements
Paris is divided into 20 districts, known as arrondissements, which spiral outward from the center of the city. Familiarizing yourself with the layout and understanding which arrondissement your accommodations or activities are in will help you get around more easily.
The central arrondissements (1st-4th) are often the most visited, but don’t miss the charm of neighborhoods further out like the Marais or Montmartre.

6. Learn a Few French Phrases
While many people in Paris speak English, knowing a few basic French phrases as a first time visitor can go a long way in making a positive impression and enhancing your experience.
Start with simple greetings like “Bonjour” (Good morning) and “Merci” (Thank you), and don’t be afraid to attempt a few sentences in French — locals appreciate the effort!
7. Use the Metro or Walk
Paris has an excellent public transport system, and the metro is the fastest way to get around. However, if the weather is nice, walking is often the best way to explore the city, allowing you to take in the sights at your own pace.
8. Bring a Power Adapter
France uses the European standard two-pronged plug, so be sure to bring an adapter to charge your devices. It’s always best to have one with you to avoid scrambling when you arrive!
9. Check the Weather
Paris can be unpredictable weather-wise, especially during the spring and fall. Be sure to pack an umbrella, a light jacket, and sunglasses for the ever-changing conditions.
