I’ve traveled to Sifnos, Greece multiple times: as a couple, with friends, and most recently with our baby. The first time we spent 4 nights, and it simply wasn’t enough. This time, we made sure to stay in Sifnos for 5 nights, giving us the chance to savor everything this incredible island has to offer.
As a foodie traveler, I’m always on the hunt for the best culinary destinations and places to eat, and Sifnos is an absolute must for anyone who loves great food. This guide will ensure you eat at all the best spots to taste authentic Greek and Sifnian cuisine while also exploring the island’s stunning beaches, charming villages, and rich history.

5 Day Sifnos Itinerary Overview
First, here is an overview of what you can expect in this five day Sifnos Itinerary.
I do recommend having your own means of transportation whether a car, scooter or ATV to get around Sifnos. There is public transportation, but it’s nice to be on your own schedule.

Day 1: Arrival to Sifnos
MORNING
Arrive in Sifnos and transfer to your hotel. If coming from Athens, there are usually two ferry options: a very early morning ferry that gets you to the island by lunchtime or a later one that arrives around 6 p.m.
I recommend taking the afternoon ferry. If you’ve just arrived from an international flight and stayed in Athens, you might be tired. The afternoon ferry allows you to use the morning to visit the Acropolis before heading to the island.
AFTERNOON
Settle into your accommodations and explore the property. We always stay at Verina Astra, the best boutique luxury hotel on Sifnos. The spacious rooms are a highlight, and the infinity pool, fantastic restaurant, and spa make it even more special. The property boasts the best views on the island, so it’s worth booking a room just for that.
There are several great areas of Sifnos to base yourself on the island, which I’ll cover in more detail later.
EVENING
Enjoy a relaxing evening with room service. It’s perfect for unwinding after your journey.
The room service menu is excellent, and our favorites include grilled fish, Greek salad, pesto orzo pasta, and, of course, Greek wine.
You can have it set up on your private terrace under the stars for a truly memorable experience.
Day 2: Beach Day at Platis Gialos
MORNING
Start your day with a delicious breakfast at your hotel. Our favorite hotel offers two options: breakfast in your room or in the main breakfast area (both are complimentary). We typically rotate to enjoy both experiences.
After, head to Platis Gialos Beach to soak up the sun. This beach is one of the best organized on the island, with restaurants and shops. It’s a long sandy beach tucked into a quiet cove.
Pro Tip: It can be windy on the Greek islands, so always check the wind direction when choosing a beach for the day.
AFTERNOON
For lunch, head to Maiolica, a beachside restaurant famous for its fresh Mediterranean dishes. It’s one of my absolute favorite spots to eat lunch in Sifnos. I love that you can walk off the beach in your swimsuit and enjoy a gourmet meal!
The restaurant is charming, and the food is exceptional. I always order the fresh fish, along with a green salad and pasta to share, paired with a bottle of local Greek wine.
Continue to relax on the beach or by your hotel pool in the afternoon.
EVENING
Dine at Nos, a stylish restaurant with a creative menu and stunning views. This newer spot is also a hotel and a great place to stay near Faros Beach.
Day 3: Monasteries, Beaches, and Spa
MORNING
Start the next of your 5 days in Sifnos with breakfast at your hotel.
Take a scenic walk to the Panagia Poulati Monastery and admire the stunning architecture. It’s right next to the hotel so won’t take long.
If you’re up for it, there’s a small cove below for swimming. It’s a bit of a hike back up, so it’s not for everyone. The swimming area is rocky, so avoid it on windy days. However, on calm days, it’s a hidden gem!
Next, visit Faros Beach and have lunch at Pelicanos. Faros Beach is a true gem—we didn’t go on our first trip, but on our most recent visit, we went twice!
Pelicanos is the best beachside restaurant for lunch. Grab a table under the trees on the beach, steps away from the water, and enjoy an incredible meal. Be sure to make a reservation!
The fish sandwich at Pelicanos is unforgettable—it’s why we returned for lunch twice in a row. They also have crispy chips, mussels, and a great cacio e pepe.
Afterward, stop into Betty’s Bakery right next door for fresh-squeezed lemonade or coffee. It’s the best coffee on Sifnos!
Relax on the beach or take an optional walk to the Chrysopigi Monastery. Chrysopigi Monastery is one of the most important landmarks on Sifnos, both historically and spiritually.
The monastery itself is beautifully situated on a rocky promontory, offering stunning views of the Aegean Sea. The monastery’s simple yet captivating architecture includes a whitewashed chapel and a small courtyard surrounded by ancient olive trees.
AFTERNOON
Indulge in spa appointments at Bostani Spa for a rejuvenating experience. This was easily one of the best massages I’ve ever had. I opted for the 90-minute signature massage, which ended with a mini facial—such a divine treat! They use Elemis products, and everything felt amazing. Plus, the view of the Aegean Sea from your massage table is pure serenity.
EVENING
Savor a farm-to-table dinner at Bostani Restaurant, located at Verina Astra. The restaurant offers the best view in town, perched on a cliff overlooking the Aegean Sea.
The tables are surrounded by olive trees and all dining is open-air, allowing you to dine under the stars. Book a table at sunset for the best views and photo ops!
Day 4: Church of the Seven Martyrs, Cliff Jumping, and Omega-3
MORNING
Begin your day with breakfast at a charming bakery called Veniou (Βενιού) in Artemonas and take a stroll through the picturesque town. Sifnos is famous for its pastries, and we certainly indulged! Be sure to try their homemade granola—it’s absolutely divine.
Artemonas is the cutest little village with winding alleys, perfect for getting lost in and discovering hidden gems.
Next, visit the Church of the Seven Martyrs and explore the nearby Kastro village. The church is situated on a small island that juts out into the sea, with a breathtaking whitewashed facade and a blue dome. It is jaw dropping beautiful!
On the way down, look for a small trail to the right that leads to some rocks where you can cliff-jump into the sea. This was one of the highlights of our last trip—it felt like the essence of “summer in Greece”!
It’s a steep climb back up, so be ready for plenty of stairs.
AFTERNOON
Return to your hotel to relax and recharge.
Enjoy a late afternoon swim at Platis Gialos Beach, taking in the peaceful atmosphere.
EVENING
Have an early dinner at Omega-3, a casual yet gourmet beachside spot in Platis Gialos, perfect for dining in your swimwear. It’s one of the most famous restaurants on the island and offers an incredibly laid-back vibe.
The food is exceptional. We like to share several small plates, such as zucchini carpaccio, ceviches and crudos, chickpea tostada, and the fresh catch of the day.
If you’re up for it, enjoy dessert back at your hotel at Bostani. They offer several tasty options, but the cookie skillet is our favorite! It’s the perfect sweet end to a memorable day.
Day 5: Northern Sifnos and Shopping
MORNING
Begin day 5 in Sifnos with a drive to Cheronissos Beach for a serene morning by the sea. This old fishing village is remote and wonderfully local. The drive takes about 20 minutes, offering you a chance to see more of the island’s diverse topography on this end.
Dine at Cheronissos Fish Taverna, a quaint seaside eatery. The menu is limited to whatever they’ve caught that day—truly as fresh as it gets.
AFTERNOON
Stop in Artemonas to shop for handmade ceramics at Sifnos Stoneware. This is our favorite place to buy ceramics.
We first discovered it on our first trip and loved the pieces so much that I emailed them to have more shipped home. We use their plates and bowls every day!
On our latest trip, I was thrilled to restock some of our favorites and pick up a few more things we needed.
Explore the pedestrian streets of Apollonia and browse its local boutiques. Apollonia is the main town in Sifnos, with tons of shopping and fantastic women’s boutiques.
EVENING
Wrap up your trip with dinner at Cantina Sifnos. This is hands down the best restaurant on the island, offering Michelin-star quality meals.
Located near Kastro, you’ll need to walk down the mountainside to reach it. The restaurant overlooks a quiet lagoon with stunning views of the sea and boats. The tasting menu allows you to make a few choices, and they easily accommodated our pescatarian diet, offering kids’ meals as well (buttered pasta).
The food was extraordinary—we loved the tuna, chickpea panisse, fava crepe, mackerel, and Sifnian ratatouille. Highly suggest starting with bubbles and then some local recommended by the sommelier!
Optional: Enjoy after-dinner drinks at Loggia Sifnos Wine Bar nearby in Kastro.
Depart Sifnos
MORNING
Take the morning ferry back to Athens, typically departing around 11:00 AM.

Day Trip to Paros
Sifnos is perfectly positioned for exploring nearby islands. A day trip to Paros is an excellent option for those looking to explore more of the Cyclades in this 5 day Sifnos Itinerary.
Paros, known for its charming villages, beautiful beaches, and vibrant nightlife, is just a short ferry ride away. Spend the day visiting the town of Naoussa, enjoying the stunning beaches of Golden Beach or Kolymbithres, or exploring the historic Church of Panagia Ekatontapiliani in Parikia.
Sail Around Sifnos
Alternatively, if you’d prefer to stay close to Sifnos, consider sailing around the island. This allows you to discover hidden coves and beaches only accessible by boat, giving you a completely different perspective of the island.
You can also hire a private sailing boat for a more intimate experience, enjoying the crystal-clear waters and stopping for a swim at secluded spots.
Join a Cooking Class
Sifnos is known for its culinary traditions, and participating in a local cooking class is a great way to learn about the island’s unique flavors. You can learn to prepare local dishes such as revithada (chickpea stew) or moussaka, and the experience typically ends with a delicious meal you’ve prepared yourself.
Take a Pottery Workshop
Sifnos is also known for its pottery, a craft that dates back to ancient times. A pottery workshop offers the chance to create your own piece of art, whether it’s a vase, bowl, or plate. Many of the island’s artisans are happy to share their techniques and traditions, making for a fun and educational experience.
Hike One of the Scenic Sifnos Trails
Sifnos is a hiker’s paradise, with a network of scenic trails that take you through its rugged landscape, picturesque villages, and coastal paths. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just looking for a leisurely walk, there’s plenty of options.
The most famous trail is the one that leads to the Church of the Seven Martyrs, offering breathtaking views of the sea and the island’s stunning coastline. Another popular route is the trail that connects the village of Apollonia with the beach at Vathi, passing through olive groves and ancient stone pathways.
Visit Vathi Beach
For a relaxing day by the sea, head to Vathi Beach. This peaceful beach, with its soft sand and calm waters, is perfect for swimming and lounging. It’s quieter than other beaches on the island, making it ideal for those who prefer a more secluded experience. There are a few beachside tavernas where you can enjoy a leisurely lunch while taking in the scenic views.
Explore the Port Town of Kamares
If you’re in the mood for a bit more exploration, visit the port town of Kamares. This charming village is the first place you’ll arrive when coming to Sifnos by ferry, making it a bit more busy and touristy.
Stroll along the waterfront, browse the local shops, and enjoy a meal at one of the seaside tavernas. Kamares is known for its relaxed vibe, making it the perfect spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing or as a place to enjoy a leisurely coffee while watching the boats come and go.
How to Get to Sifnos
Sifnos is accessible via ferry from Athens (Piraeus port) or nearby islands like Milos and Paros. Ferries range from high-speed options to slower, more scenic rides. I always recommend taking the high-speed ferry—it’s quicker and more comfortable, allowing you to start your island adventure sooner!
There is no airport on Sifnos, which can make getting there a bit more challenging. This lack of direct air travel helps preserve the island’s charm, keeping it quieter and less touristy. The absence of an airport also contributes to Sifnos’ appeal, as it feels like a hidden gem that hasn’t yet been overrun by crowds.
Most visitors arrive by ferry, making the journey part of the experience and a great way to enjoy the Aegean Sea views.
Best Times to Visit Sifnos
Late spring (May-June) and early fall (September) are ideal for pleasant weather and fewer crowds. We’ve always visited in September, which feels more like “locals’ summer.” It’s still lively, but nowhere near as crowded as July and August when most Europeans take their vacations.
Late spring and early fall offer warm, sunny weather, but without the intense heat of the peak summer months. These months are perfect for enjoying the island’s beauty without feeling overwhelmed by tourists.
Where to Stay in Sifnos
If you are spending 5 days in Sifnos, choosing a good place to stay is key. For this long of a trip, you want to be comfortable and stay in a good location.
I suggest, if you want to be right on the beach, opt for Vathi, Faros or Platis Gialos. These areas offer easy access to the sea and a relaxed atmosphere. If you prefer to stay in a more vibrant town setting, Apollonia and Artemonas are great choices, with charming streets and local shops to explore.
Artemonas/Poulati
For luxury accommodations, Verina Astra is my top recommendation. This intimate hotel offers stunning views, perched on a cliff with panoramic vistas of the island. It’s perfectly located for easy access to beaches and restaurants, yet it provides a quiet and peaceful retreat away from the crowds.
Platis Gialos
Platis Gialos is my top recommendation if you want to be right along a great beach with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. It’s an ideal spot for anyone, whether you’re traveling with family or as a couple. The beach offers easy access to everything you need, and the lively atmosphere makes it perfect for a balanced mix of relaxation and convenience.
For accommodations, Verina Terra is a must-see. It’s the sister property to the boutique hotel I personally love staying at in Sifnos. This gorgeous 4-star property blends Mediterranean design with excellent amenities, including a quiet pool, restaurant, and bar.
Vathi
If you’re seeking a quieter and more secluded beach, Vathi is a great option. Tucked behind a mountainous area of the island, it feels a bit off the beaten path. It’s a peaceful beach compared to Kamares, but still boasts a 5-star hotel and excellent beachfront restaurants. If you’re looking for a more resort-style property, Vathi and Elies Resort are great choices.
For families or large groups staying in Vathi, Villa Verina is the perfect option. The villa has three multi-level buildings, providing ample space while still offering an intimate atmosphere
Faros Beach
Located near Faros Beach, NOS Hotel & Villas is a chic 5-star property that offers a stylish and luxurious experience. The hotel boasts sleek, modern design and impeccable service, making it a great choice for those looking for a sophisticated stay.
The property features stunning accommodations and an amazing restaurant, which serves delicious, creative dishes with a focus on fresh, local ingredients. I would consider staying here next time, but I don’t think the view is comparable to Verina Astra.

Known for its dramatic volcanic terrain, it’s perfect for those seeking a quieter, more rugged beauty. Don’t miss the famous Sarakiniko Beach, with its white moon-like rocks.
Antiparos
For a more laid-back vibe, consider Antiparos. This charming island is just a short ferry ride from Paros and is known for its peaceful ambiance and beautiful beaches. It’s a great escape if you want to experience the authentic Greek island life. It is also great for families.
Paros
Paros is another nearby gem, offering a blend of cosmopolitan charm and traditional Greek island vibes. With beautiful beaches, picturesque villages, and excellent restaurants, it’s a great destination for those who want to explore more of the Cyclades without the crowds of Mykonos.
Serifos
Serifos, a lesser-known island, offers a more serene and rustic experience. Its untouched beauty and quiet beaches make it perfect for nature lovers and those looking to unwind in a peaceful setting.
Tinos
Finally, Tinos is an island rich in history and culture. Known for its stunning churches, particularly the Church of Panagia Evangelistria, and its lovely beaches, it offers a unique blend of tradition and beauty.
