A complete review of my experience staying at the luxury resort, Six Senses Seychelles – Zil Pasyon, during my honeymoon to the Seychelles!

My perfect day in Seychelles involved brunch room service on our porch, reading at a secluded beach all day, followed by snacks and rosé in the infinity pool until sunset, and completed with a dinner under the stars. Six Senses Zil Pasyon could not have catered to this leisurely honeymoon any better.  

Six Senses Seychelles is the sole resort located on the private island of Félicité, blending seamlessly with the abundant, unspoiled landscape. Six Senses says it best themselves: “Coral-fringed beaches and massive granite rocks create an air of drama and beauty in this haven of perpetual summer.” Sign me up for perpetual summers! 

In this guide, I’m telling you all about our experience staying at this amazing resort. I’ve traveled to 20 countries across 5 continents seeking out the nicest resorts and this is one of my all time favorites.

How to Get to Six Senses Zil Pasyon

Located on the island of Felicite, Six Senses Zil Pasyon is incredibly remote, but easy to reach with many different options including a ferry or helicopter.

First, you will fly into Seychelles to SEZ, Seychelles International Airport on Mahé Island (the main island).

HELICOPTER | From there, you can choose to be picked up via helicopter which is an easy 20 minutes flight over this beautiful archipelago to reach Six Senses Zil Pasyon. We chose to depart the resort via helicopter and it was an incredible experience and by far the easiest option.

FERRY | Another option is to fly or ferry to Praslin Island from Mahé with Air Seychelles Airlines and then have the Six Senses team pick you up in their private ferry to reach the island. Personally, we flew to Praslin where we spent a few nights on the front end of our trip then got picked via the resort’s private ferry on Praslin.

When we first arrived to Six Senses for our honeymoon we were blown away by the first impression. We were picked up from Praslin via their private ferry and pulled up to the dock to find their General Manager, Assistant GM, and our personal Guest Experience Manager awaiting our arrival. They chauffeured us via golf cart to our secluded villa for check-in and welcome champagne! They set the bar high and the entire team continued to exceed it every day.

The Villas at Six Senses Zil Pasyon

There are only 28 one & two bedroom villas at Six Senses Zil Pasyon and they are absolutely exquisite with private infinity pools and unparalleled views. They blend in with the island and are almost hard to spot tucked away in the trees. You will be very far from your neighbors making it feel even more private.

Each villa features a massive deck with private infinity pool, king sized beds lined with mosquito netting, and large bathrooms with soaking tubs overlooking the Indian Ocean. The bathrooms even have swings!

There is truly not a single thing the design team left on the table – they even installed under bed lights in case you need to get up in the middle of the night! 

We stayed in villa 27, a one bedroom pool villa. We spent lots of time on our porch enjoying room service, swimming in the infinity pool, practicing yoga, and drinking alllll the rosé. You will not want to leave the villa! But you should because there is so much to explore!

If traveling with a group or family, consider booking one of the residences. Choose between a three or four bedroom residence situated at the top of the island with insane views and immaculate design features. One of these even has a pool on the roof where you can look up from the living area below and see into the pool!

There are a few amazing features to note about the one bedroom villas that we stayed in for our Seychelles honeymoon.

The Bathrooms

The bathrooms inside the villa are incredible! One of my favorite features is the big swing right in the center of the bathroom.

There is a giant soaking tub that looks out a big window with separate vanities on either side. The standup shower was tucked in the corner with its own small window where I could see the ocean and sailboats passing by.

The toilet was private behind its own door. You’ll get spoiled with the Japanese electric toilets they offer complete with heated seats.

Private Infinity Pool

One of my favorite hotel features in a luxury hotel is my very own private plunge pool. This one at Six Senses Seychelles is an infinity pool that looks over the Indian Ocean.

The pool is quite big making it perfect to spend a whole day. On the expansive deck, they offer lounge chairs for sunbathing, a full sized day bed under the shade, and a dining table for al fresco dinners.

At night, the pool lights up with hundreds of tiny lights that make it glitter like the night sky.

Dining at Six Senses Seychelles

Since you are on a private island, the hotel is the only place to eat which was fine with me. They are completely self-sustaining, growing everything right on the island at their organic farm! 

We loved having cocktails while watching the sunset at the Ocean Kitchen each night. Then, we had dinner under the stars which always included fresh fish, locally grown vegetables and wine from all over the world sourced by their impressive sommelier!  You can even order the same menu to your room and dine on your own private porch. Here are all the best dining experiences at Six Senses Zil Pasyon:

Ocean Kitchen

Ocean Kitchen is the main restaurant where you sit right up against the sea in an open air setting. Enjoy local caught fish and fresh vegetables grown at the organic garden. We loved this great dinner spot!

Island Cafe

Island Cafe is the open-air lounge area with comfy seating for breakfast or snacks throughout the day.

Wine Vault

We never dined in the Wine Vault, but did get a chance to check it out and it is an incredible, intimate spot! You walk downstairs to this hidden room with brick walls and wine bottles from floor to ceiling. There’s a big table for 2-8 guests to experience fine dining and a wine tasting. Great if you are visiting with your family or a group.

Lakanbiz

Lakanbiz is a really cool cocktail bar located upstairs of the main restaurant. It is very moody with dim lighting, leather chairs, and antique furnishings. Enjoy after dinner cocktails and cigars.

Koko Bar

At Koko Bar, you can enjoy the open air setting with your drink of choice. Grab a seat at the bar, pool, or sit in the over water lounge hammocks.

Experiences and Things to Do at Six Senses Seychelles

There are several fun things to do at Six Senses Seychelles. Here are some of my top experiences from our trip!

Kayak to Cocos Island

My favorite activity was kayaking over to Cocos Island one morning. The recreation team helped us with kayaks and even gave us a phone incase we needed to contact them while we were out. It is a short cruise over to this private little island lined with stunning granite boulders. We had the place to ourselves for hours!

Grande Anse Beach

Grande Anse is the main beach at the Félicité Island resort and we had it to ourselves almost every time! The white sand is stunning and there are even a few cabanas tucked away in the shade. One either end you can see the incredible rock formations that are iconic to the Seychelles.

Organic Garden at Six Senses Seychelles

You’ll walk past the organic garden on your way to Grande Anse. The hotel grows all of their produce right here on the island! 

Six Senses Zil Pasyon Spa

Six Senses Seychelles spa is hands down the nicest spa I have been to. We had a relaxing couples massage and after that enjoyed tea on a private swing overlooking the sea.

You can also book time at the private spa infinity pool which I highly recommend especially if your room pool does not overlook the ocean!

Fitness Center & Exercise

I never made it to the gym, but my husband thought it was the nicest hotel resort gym! He loved running on the treadmill and being able to look out to the sea. The villas include a yoga mat in the room, so I enjoyed workouts on our amazing patio!

Snorkeling on the Reefs

Being under the sea in the Indian Ocean is more beautiful than I could have imagined. I felt like the little mermaid in the stunning underwater oasis. These Indian Ocean reefs are so abundant with marine life for being in the middle of nowhere. 

La Digue for Beach Hopping & Anse Source d’Argent

Six Senses arranged for us to spend a day on the nearby island of La Digue. This is one of the three main islands in Seychelles. They do not have cars, except for a few work trucks, so everyone gets around via bike!

We were dropped off by the ferry and the bike rental company met us on the dock to set us up for the day. You will be able to access L’Union Estate which is a colonial vanilla and coconut plantation filled with coconut trees, land tortoises, and the old plantation house.

This will also allow access to the famed Anse Source d’Argent where you can relax on the beach or rent clear kayaks! A Seychelles honeymoon is not complete without a visit to this captivating beach lined with the massive granite boulders that make Seychelles famous.

Take a Cooking Class at the Chef’s Kitchen

Located right next to the Island Cafe is a cute little test kitchen with bar seating. Book a cooking class to learn tips and tricks while sampling food along the way!

Main Pool

While the villas have their own pools, you shouldn’t miss the main pool at the resort. It’s located right next to the restaurants overlooking the sea. The infinity pool is massive and I imagine you will have it to yourself most of the time.

It’s great if you want to be apart of the action, possibly meet other guests, and be served cocktails right to your lounge chair.

I also loved that they had mini lounge chairs for kids!

Movie Nights

Twice a week the hotel offers a complimentary movie screening under the stars. It takes place right by the hotel’s bar and restaurants over the sea.

Snag a lounger that literally sits over the ocean as you watch the film and snack on popcorn. (In the image above, you can see where the screen would sit right next to the boulders.)

For a private screening, you can book for your family or group for a small fee.

Helicopter Transportation

For our departure, it made the most sense to take the helicopter to Mahe. This was an incredible flight across the island and the best way to end an amazing vacation. The entire team was there again to wave us off!

Service at Six Senses Zil Pasyon

I have touched on the service experience at Six Senses throughout this post, but it deserves an in depth hotel review.

Each villa comes with your very own Guest Experience Manager (GEM) who is essentially your private butler during your stay. They are simply a call away for anything you might need from booking a spa appointment to getting a golf cart ride down to dinner. Our GEM truly made our stay exceptional.

Every single person we interacted with was lovely from the farmers at the Organic Garden to the housekeeping staff to the General Manager. We felt like we met everyone and each person stopped to ask about our stay and make sure we were having a great time. We appreciated the hands on approach and friendliness of the team at Six Senses.

A few things that standout about the level of service:

1. Towels and water stations around the property were so nice when we were going to and from the beach. There were little sheds with bathrooms and coolers of water strategically placed.
2. We had a slight delay getting a room service order for dinner (we didn’t mind at all), and the next day they brought us glasses of champagne at breakfast to apologize. Was truly above and beyond service that exceeded expectations.
3. Champagne and snacks in our room on arrival with handwritten note! Love a welcome bottle of bubbles especially when its a honeymoon!!
4. They of course offer turn down service at night and I loved that they would transition the bed with untucking the big mosquito net that draped across. We really didn’t see any when we visited in April, but I thought it was beautiful.
5. The management team (including the hotel’s general manager) waved us off as our helicopter departed at the end of our stay. They also all greeted us on arrival which made us feel so welcome!
6. We kayaked to Cocos Island one day and were provided a phone in case we had any problems. We stayed out there for hours and when they hadn’t seen us return, the staff kayaked out there to ensure we were okay.
7. Originally booked a panorama villa and were graciously upgraded to the oceanfront villa on arrival!

I could go on and on about the service at this hotel, but I recommend you see for yourself!

Sustainability at Six Senses Zil Pasyon

One of the best parts of the Six Senses brand as whole is their commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices. Here are a few way they are protecting this precious island and benefiting from ecotourism:

• Six Senses bottles their own drinking water onsite (in glass bottles) which helps to reduce the use of plastics. The goal is to be completely plastic free.
• They grow their own food. I mentioned the organic garden – they produced over 7,000 kilos of organic herbs, fruits, and vegetables in 2021 that fueled their guests and staff.
• They protect 15,000 square meters of native habitat and planted 100 authentic trees in 2021 alone. Their long term goal is to reintroduce endemic birds to the island.
• They help protect the endangered hawksbill turtles allowing them to successfully hatch their nasts

Final Thoughts

Staying at Six Senses Zil Pasyon was an unforgettable experience and I would absolutely go back. It is undoubtedly the nicest place I have ever stayed and hope to explore more of their unique properties around the world.

With only 28 villas you will hardly run in to other guests so it really feels like your own private island paradise! If you are looking for a more slow travel destination, this might be perfect for you.

Personally, we spent a few nights on Praslin before and would actually recommend skipping that and spending all of your time at Six Senses Zil Pasyon! The experience was uncomparable and I would absolutely spend 7 days in the Seychelles solely at this resort!
