The Seychelles had been at the top of my bucket list for years, so when it came time to plan our honeymoon, we knew it had to be here. We spent one week in Seychelles, splitting our time between Praslin, La Digue, Félicité, and lounging on some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It was everything we had dreamed of—turquoise waters, giant granite boulders, and an effortlessly laid-back island vibe.
There are several ways you could plan your week in the Seychelles! If I were going back to the Seychelles, I would stay on a private island and do day trips. Alternatively, if spending one week, I would spend 3 days on Mahé and 4 on Praslin with a day trip to La Digue. With only 7 days, it’s best to limit your itinerary to only 2 hotels and keep the logistics simple.
If you’re planning your own 7 day Seychelles itinerary, this guide has everything you need. I’m sharing exactly how we spent our trip, what we’d do again, and different travel itinerary options to help you decide which Seychelles experience is right for you. Whether you’re looking for a classic island-hopping adventure, a private island escape, or a world-class fishing trip, you’ll find an itinerary that fits your travel style.
Option 1: Our Seychelles Itinerary (Praslin and Félicité )
Perfect for: First-time visitors who want a mix of adventure, relaxation, and exclusivity.
For my honeymoon in the Seychelles, we planned an incredible seven-day trip visiting both Praslin Island and the private island of Félicité, plus a day trip to La Digue. It was the perfect blend of a more popular island and an intimate escape! Here is exactly what we did!
Day 1 – Arrive in the Seychelles
On day one, you’ll arrive at Seychelles International Airport and then hop on a puddle jumper with Air Seychelles to the island of Praslin. You can also take a ferry, but flying is much more efficient and affordable.
Once you arrive at the small Praslin airstrip, you’ll need transportation to your accommodation.
Where to Stay on Praslin
We stayed at highly rated luxury hotel on Praslin (starts with an R), and honestly, it was just okay. The rooms needed some updating, but what really stood out was the poor service from key staff. We had a bad experience, but hopefully yours would be better. I’ve stayed at some incredible hotels around the world, and this was the only major let down. Sorry, I have to be honest with you guys! Next time, I would check out Constance Lemuria.
Day 2 – Enjoy the Beaches and Sunset at Anse Lazio
On day two, you’ll likely still be tired from the long journey, so make it a day to relax.
Enjoy the beaches and a morning paddleboarding in the quiet lagoons. Then, have lunch and unwind by the resort pool.
For sunset, head to the renowned Anse Lazio—one of the most gorgeous sunsets I’ve ever seen! This white sandy beach, framed by granite boulders, features the most stunning turquoise water. Sailboats dot the skyline as the sun sets over the Indian Ocean, casting a dazzling display of oranges and pinks.
PRO TIP: Have your hotel arrange a sundowner with drinks and snacks!
Day 3 – Visit Vallée de Mai & Transfer to Félicité Island
Wake up early to visit Vallée de Mai, a UNESCO World Heritage Site home to six endemic species of palm trees, including the rare coco de mer. The 48-acre palm forest is said to be the Garden of Eden. Admission is about $26 USD and helps fund conservation efforts.
Afterward, head to the ferry port to catch your boat ride to Félicité Island.
Félicité Island – Six Senses Zil Pasyon
You’ll check in to the exclusive Six Senses Zil Pasyon, the only resort on Félicité, blending seamlessly with the unspoiled landscape. When I think of my favorite hotel experiences in the world, this is at the top!
We loved staying on this private island because it felt like we were the only people there. The resort offers an incredible spa, private white sandy beaches, snorkeling, kayaking, private infinity pools, world-class restaurants, and more. We spent lots of time drinking rosé in our pool, reading, walking around the island, and kayaking to a nearby tiny island.

After you get settled, pop some champagne and spend the afternoon in your incredible villa with its own private plunge pool!
Catch sunset at the resort’s waterfront bar, then explore the main grounds with the pool, restaurants, and whiskey bar.

Day 4 – Six Senses Spa & Grand Anse Beach
Enjoy a morning massage at the Six Senses Spa. It was the most incredible spa experience, and we booked a couples massage for our honeymoon. Afterward, you can reserve the spa pool with an amazing view and even have lunch served there!
Relax on Grand Anse Beach in the afternoon. This is the island’s main beach, but it always felt like we were the only people there. We loved lounging in the white sand, but there are also a few daybeds tucked into the shade—perfect for an afternoon nap or a beach read.
Day 5 – Day Trip to La Digue
Spend a day on the nearby island of La Digue, one of the three main islands in Seychelles. There are no cars, except for a few work trucks—everyone gets around by bike!
You can visit L’Union Estate, a colonial vanilla and coconut plantation filled with coconut trees, land tortoises, and the old plantation house. It was amazing to see Aldabra tortoises roaming freely!
Your ticket to L’Union Estate also grants access to the famed Anse Source d’Argent, where you can relax on the beach or rent clear kayaks. Even though it was a bit overcast when we visited, the beach was still absolutely stunning.
Day 6 – Kayak to Cocos Island
My favorite activity was kayaking to Cocos Island one morning. The recreation team helped us with kayaks and even gave us a phone in case we needed to contact them. It was a short cruise to this private little island lined with stunning granite boulders. We had the entire place to ourselves for hours!
Day 7 – Morning at the Pool, Then Depart
On the last day, enjoy a slow morning in your incredible villa. You’ll need to return to Mahé for your international departure.
We took a helicopter back, which saved so much time (and was a splurge!), but we saw it as part of the adventure—flying over the islands was breathtaking!
The other option is to ferry back to Praslin and then take another ferry or flight to Mahé.
If you have extra time, explore a bit of Mahé. Visit the capital, Victoria, to see the clock tower or explore the local market.
This itinerary was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation, and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!

Option 2: Classic Seychelles Itinerary – The 3 Main Islands
Perfect for: Those who want to experience the best of Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue.
If you really want to see all three main islands, this is the classic Seychelles itinerary. I personally recommend doing this only for a 10-day trip at minimum. Moving every 2-3 days can be exhausting, with flights, ferries, and logistics making your short time even shorter!
I would actually suggest staying on only Mahé and Praslin and doing a day trip to La Digue. But, if you are up for all three, here’s how to plan it out!
Day 1-2: Mahé
Spend two days on Mahé relaxing on the beaches and experiencing the unique culture of the Seychelles.
I recommend staying at Four Seasons Seychelles – it is on a more remote side if the island tucked away from the touristy parts.
We were originally booked to stay here on our first visit to the Seychelles then switched things up and went with the first itinerary I mentioned! I would still love to stay here though.
Explore the capital, Victoria
Victoria is one of the world’s smallest capitals, but it’s packed with charm. Stroll through the bustling Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke Market, visit the Victoria Clock Tower, and admire the colorful Hindu temple, Arul Mihu Navasakthi Vinayagar.
Hike scenic trails
Mahé has incredible hiking opportunities. The Copolia Trail offers panoramic views over the island, while the Morne Blanc Trail leads to a breathtaking viewpoint over the ocean.
Relax on Beau Vallon Beach
This is Mahé’s most famous beach, known for its soft white sand and calm waters. Spend the afternoon swimming, sunbathing, or trying water sports like jet skiing and parasailing.
Visit Seychelles National Botanical Gardens
A peaceful escape in Victoria, this garden is home to giant Aldabra tortoises, lush tropical plants, and the famous coco de mer palms.
Tour the Takamaka Rum Distillery
Learn about the rum-making process and sample locally crafted Takamaka rum. The distillery is set in a historic plantation house surrounded by lush greenery.
Day 3-4: Praslin
If you are spending more time on Praslin, these are some of the best things to do!
Visit Anse Georgette
This secluded beach is one of the most beautiful in Seychelles. Accessible through the Constance Lemuria Resort (with prior permission), it’s a perfect spot for a peaceful beach day.
Take a boat trip to Curieuse Island
A short boat ride from Praslin, Curieuse Island is home to giant tortoises roaming freely, red mangrove forests, and a stunning coastline. Take a guided tour to learn about the island’s conservation efforts.
Explore Vallée de Mai, a UNESCO site
This prehistoric palm forest is often called the “Garden of Eden.” Walk along its shaded trails to see the rare coco de mer palms and unique wildlife, including the endemic black parrot.
Day 5-6: La Digue
Visit stunning beaches like Anse Source d’Argent
La Digue is famous for its breathtaking beaches. Anse Source d’Argent, with its iconic granite boulders, is one of the most photographed beaches in the world. Grand Anse and Petite Anse offer wild beauty and excellent swimming spots.
Go snorkeling at Coco Island
Take a short boat ride to Coco Island, a top snorkeling destination with crystal-clear waters and vibrant coral reefs teeming with marine life. Expect to see colorful fish, sea turtles, and maybe even reef sharks.
Day 7: Back to Mahé
Spend your final day unwinding at one of Mahé’s luxury resorts, like the Four Seasons or Maia Resort. Enjoy a beachfront lunch, take a last swim in the turquoise waters, and soak up the beauty of Seychelles before heading to the airport.
This itinerary allows you to experience the highlights of Seychelles in a quick one week trip. As you can see, it is kind of a lot and doesn’t allow much time to truly relax!
Option 3: Praslin & La Digue (Skipping Mahé)
Perfect for: Travelers looking for a laid-back island escape without Mahé.
This itinerary is perfect if you want to spend more time on La Digue, the smallest of the three main islands. La Digue offers an authentic, charming, and relaxed vibe. You can explore stunning beaches, bike everywhere, kayak, and hike through lush nature trails. It’s a great option if you want to skip the busier, more touristy Mahé. Plus, La Digue is the most affordable island, with plenty of house rentals and self-catering options.
Day 1-3: Praslin
You will basically pull from the itineraries outlined above. Explore Vallée de Mai, Anse Lazio, and take a boat tour to Curieuse Island during your days on Praslin Island.
Day 4-6: La Digue
There are many incredible ways to spend a few days on La Digue. You will want to spend plenty of time biking around, hiking the trails, and hopping around the most famous beaches! Here are a few things to fill your itinerary.
Bike Around the Island
La Digue is a car-free island, making biking the best way to explore. Ride along scenic coastal paths, stop at hidden beaches, and soak in the island’s laid-back atmosphere.
Hike to Anse Cocos
For an off-the-beaten-path adventure, hike to Anse Cocos. This secluded beach is known for its powdery sand, crystal-clear waters, and natural rock pools that are perfect for a refreshing dip.
Snorkel in Crystal-Clear Waters
La Digue offers fantastic snorkeling opportunities. Take a short boat ride to Coco Island, where you’ll find vibrant coral reefs teeming with colorful fish, sea turtles, and small reef sharks.
Visit Notre Dame de L’Assomption Church
This historic Catholic church, with its simple yet beautiful architecture, is a cultural landmark on La Digue. Stop by for a quiet moment and admire its scenic surroundings.
Day 7: Return to Praslin & Depart
To return home, take the ferry from La Digue to Praslin. From there, you can catch either a ferry or a flight back to Mahé for your international departure. If time allows, enjoy a final beachside meal or a bit of souvenir shopping before leaving Seychelles.
This itinerary is ideal for travelers who want a more tranquil, immersive experience without the hustle and bustle of Mahé!
Option 4: A Private Island Escape
Perfect for: Honeymooners or those seeking a secluded luxury experience. If I were to do it again, I would personally choose this.
For ultimate relaxation, exclusivity, and unparalleled luxury, a private island stay is the way to go. Whether you want to spend your days lounging on pristine beaches, snorkeling in crystal-clear waters, or indulging in world-class dining, these private island resorts offer the most extraordinary Seychelles experience.
If you are combining an African Safari with a week in the Seychelles, I think it would be amazing to pick a private island to relax after a busy tip to Africa!

My husband and I both agreed, we could have easily spent all of our time at Six Senses Seychelles and done day trips to La Digue and Praslin. Félicité Island’s seclusion and luxury made it hard to leave, but with its central location, visiting the other islands was effortless.
From Six Senses, it’s a quick 15-minute boat ride to La Digue or 20 minutes to Praslin, making it easy to explore world-famous beaches, nature reserves, and charming island life without packing up and moving hotels. Whether it’s biking around La Digue, visiting Anse Lazio on Praslin, or exploring Vallée de Mai, a day trip lets you experience the best of both worlds—adventure by day, total relaxation by night.
Option 5: A Fishing Trip to Alphonse Island
Perfect for: Anglers and adventure seekers who want a remote fishing experience.
If you’re looking for a once-in-a-lifetime fishing adventure, Alphonse Island is the place to be for a 7 day Seychelles Itinerary. Known for its world-class fly fishing, untouched reefs, and incredible marine biodiversity, this remote atoll is a paradise for anglers and nature lovers alike. I grew up going on fishing trips with my dad and this one would truly be the ultimate bucket list worthy experience!

- Relax on Beau Vallon Beach: Unwind on one of Mahé’s most popular beaches, known for its soft sand, clear waters, and beachfront restaurants.
- Gear Up: If you’re bringing your own fishing gear (I wouldn’t bother), ensure everything is ready. Alternatively, stop by a local outfitter for any last-minute essentials before your departure.
Day 2-6: Alphonse Island – Remote Fly Fishing & Marine Adventures
Fly from Mahé to Alphonse Island, one of the most remote yet luxurious fishing destinations in Seychelles. The flight time is about one hour (250 miles) from Mahé – talk about remote!
Here are some of the things you will experience on the island:
- Fly Fishing Paradise: Alphonse is one of the best places in the world for saltwater fly fishing. Target bonefish, giant trevally, permit, and milkfish in the pristine flats.
- Deep-Sea Fishing: If you prefer offshore fishing, charter a boat for a chance to catch tuna, wahoo, and sailfish.
- Diving & Snorkeling: Alphonse boasts vibrant coral reefs teeming with marine life, making it perfect for underwater exploration.
- Island Exploration: Take a guided nature walk to learn about the unique flora and fauna of this untouched paradise.

Where to Stay on Alphonse Island
There is only one resort to stay on Alphonse Island, but you can choose a beach villa, a beach bungalow or the beach retreat!
There are 5 beach villas which are perfect for up to 2 adults and 2 children with it’s own private pool. A few short steps from the beach this villa is a dream! Each one offers one-bedroom with a large living area and additional guest bathroom, indoor/outdoor showers and a large terrace.
The 22 Beach Bungalows offer an elevate front porch ideal for sunset dinners or sipping coffee with a view! They sleep 2 adults and 1 child with 1 king bed and 1 twin bed. Plus, there is an outdoor shower, Nespresso coffee maker, and stunning surroundings!
Lastly, the Beach Retreat is largest able to accommodate up to 8 guests! This house has a stunning central pool with plenty of lounge seating – it’s amazing for a group or family! There are 4 double rooms with en-suite bahrooms and an expansive living area. This one includes your own club car!
Day 7: Return to Mahé & Depart
- Morning on Alphonse: Savor a leisurely breakfast and soak in the last moments of island life.
- Fly Back to Mahé: Board your flight back to the main island.
- Final Beachside Meal: If time allows, enjoy a relaxed lunch at a beachfront restaurant before heading to the airport for your international departure.

- Ferries: The Cat Cocos ferry connects Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue. It’s more budget-friendly but can be rough in bad weather.
- Rentals: On Mahé and Praslin, renting a car is the best way to explore. On La Digue, bikes are the main mode of transport—no cars, just pure island vibes!
- Private Transfers: If you’re staying at a high-end resort, they’ll often arrange boat or helicopter transfers for you.
Best Local Dishes to Try
Seychellois Creole cuisine is a vibrant fusion of African, French, Indian, and Chinese influences, shaped by the islands’ rich history. Expect bold flavors, fresh seafood, fragrant spices, and tropical fruits in every dish.
- Grilled Red Snapper: Fresh-caught and cooked with Creole spices—it doesn’t get better than this!
- Octopus Curry: A Seychelles specialty made with coconut milk and a rich Creole sauce.
- Ladob: A sweet or savory dish made from plantains and coconut milk.
- Shark Chutney: A unique island delicacy, often served with rice or breadfruit.
- Breadfruit Chips: A crunchy snack you’ll find everywhere—perfect with a cold SeyBrew beer!
