A San Juan, Puerto Rico bachelorette party is the perfect idea for your girls (or guys) getaway! I really wanted to go international and was thrilled that my friends were on board. It is easy to reach, especially from the East Coast and is a US Territory so there is no need for a passport as an American citizen. This means Puerto Rico also uses the US dollar so you won’t have to worry about foreign currency either. Although you are on an island in the glittering Caribbean, you will enjoy all the safety and familiarity of home – even your skeptical friends will love that!
I wrote a full blog post with my guide to San Juan, PR, but want to share the itinerary from our trip including the things we ACTUALLY ended up doing. We did not stick to the initial plan and left lotsssss of room for flexibility and found so many great spots in person. Here is our San Juan, Puerto Rico Bachelorette itinerary and you will also find a photo below of our “planned” itinerary.

- 11:30pm Late Night Lingerie Party! We played the most fun game where everyone wrote down a name for each piece of lingerie as I opened them. Then, I got to pick my favorite for each. This was hysterical!
San Juan Day 2 – Adventure Day!
DAYTIME
- 8:00am Pick up for Hike in El Yunque Rainforest, explore waterfalls
- We hiked to Yokahu tower, La Mina waterfall, and swam in a lagoon.
- Passion fruit is local to Puerto Rico and our guide spotted plenty to share with us in the forest.
- 11:00am Drop off at Luquillo Beach to relax and enjoy lunch in the white sand
- Our guide told us that the best lunch spot at Luquillo Beach is kiosk #20 Terruno – and be sure to get the mojitos!

- 10:00pm La Factoria for nightlife
- Uber back to hotel
San Juan Day 3 – Soak up the Sun!
Next on our San Juan Bachelorette Itinerary, we planned to have brunch and sightsee in Old San Juan on this day. I was excited to see the castles and check out the San Se Festival. When it came to it, we all really wanted a nice day in the sun since morning is the best time for sunlight at the hotel pool and this was our last chance. It was impossible to get ubers anyways with the festival and the walk was a little far since we did it the previous night.
Here’s what we actually did:
DAYTIME
- 10:00am Bloody Mary Bar in room, breakfast bagels from hotel restaurant
- Spend morning and afternoon at Hotel Pool
- 2:30pm Late Lunch at Tacos and Tequila
- Back to room to get ready
EVENING
- 5:00pm Sunset Sail with Sail Old San Juan – Captain Sebastian is the best!
- 8:00pm Dinner at Bottega – a recommendation from some locals we shared an uber with the night before. They also recommended Sabrina for brunch.
- 10:00pm Snuck over to the hot tub at Condado Vanderbilt Hotel!
San Juan Day 4 – Party’s Over, See ya at the Alter
DEPARTURES
- 7:00am early flights home
- One of my friends stayed an extra couple days and flew to Vieques. Looking back, I wish I had done this, but my PTO was limited with my wedding and honeymoon coming up! Little did I know, there was a global pandemic in store and I would have plenty of vacation days left…

How Much is a San Juan, Puerto Rico Bachelorette Party?
Next, I want to break down the costs of this San Juan, Puerto Rico bachelorette itinerary. Going international seems like it is expensive, but certain destinations can come out about the same as domestic! If you are flying anywhere for a bach party, my guess is it will cost everyone at least $1,000. Puerto Rico was very cheap once we got there in terms of food and drink. I have absolutely spent as much, if not more, on every other bachelorette I have attended that required a flight – Miami, NYC, Austin, 30A Florida, etc.

San Juan Main Expenses:
- Flights: $389/person – I flew Delta from CHS to SJU with a connection in ATL. We all used points too so that helped! This was high, if we had booked earlier I saw flights around $300.
- Hotel Accommodations: $364/person for 3 nights – we had 5 people in two 2 queen rooms that could accommodate 8. Two people backed out at the last minute so it could have been cheaper.
- There are lots of AirBNB options that would have been less expensive, but this was January 2020 and they were still having power outages from the recent hurricanes so I personally felt more comfortable at a hotel. It also reduced the need for ubers to the beach or dinners as we were able to walk almost everywhere.
- Rainforest Excursion (including trip to Luquillo Beach) + Sunset Sail: $145/person in total for these activities.
- Dinners: ~$30/person – see the attached bill from Bottega (split between 5 people). The most we paid was $50 at Cocina Abierta for dinner and drinks.
- Drinks: We had coronas that cost $2.00/piece! I also had a nice champagne (that I had tasted in Napa Valley) at Cocina Abierta for $6.00/glass. You can also buy liquor/beer/wine/mixers at local stores when you arrive to avoid paying for hotel drinks every time.
- Ubers: We walked almost everywhere, but Ubers were cheap and abundant.
What to Pack for a San Juan Bachelorette Party
Packing for San Juan is super easy. You are heading to the tropical Caribbean so all you really need is your swimsuits! Here is what I recommend to plan for a 3 day weekend:
- 3 Sundresses for dinners
- 3-4 Swimsuits
- 2-3 Coverups
- 1 Pair of Sandals – we never wore wedges since we walked everywhere
- 1 Set of Workout Shorts and Top for hiking El Yunque Rainforest
- Pair of Tennis Shoes
- PJs Set
- Beach Bag
- Sunscreen
- Hat
Final Thoughts
San Juan reminds me of Charleston in many ways – a coastal town with cobblestones, brightly colored buildings and a special charm. I look forward to going back to Puerto Rico with my husband to enjoy the historic part of old San Juan that I missed on this trip and maybe check out the bio bay at Vieques! If you have the chance to visit San Juan, I highly recommend it.
Please feel free to ask me any questions in the comments below! I would love to help you plan this for your group.

Hi! Thank you so much for putting this together. It’s beyond helpful! Can you provide me with the information for the rainforest excursion plus sunset sail you used?
Thanks!

Hi! Yay, so glad it is helping in your planning! We used a company called Sail Old San Juan – the captain Sebastian was awesome. The rainforest excursion was done via airbnb experiences (our guide was Isaac, if he’s still there). Also, check out this other post that should have all of the links, too!
