If you’re looking for a luxury hotel in Munich, Rosewood Munich should be very high on your list. After staying here with my husband and our 11 month old daughter, I can honestly say it completely blew me away.
As a luxury travel advisor, I’ve stayed at a lot of luxury hotels around the world, including several Rosewood properties, and Rosewood Munich is easily one of the most beautiful I’ve experienced within the brand. It is grand and impressive from a design standpoint, but never feels stuffy or overly formal. The service was exceptional, our room was immaculate, the location couldn’t have been more convenient, and we absolutely loved having an indoor pool to enjoy during our stay.
What surprised me most, though, was just how easy it was to stay here with a baby.
This was our first trip to Europe with our daughter, so I went into the trip knowing that traveling with a baby would require a little more planning. Rosewood Munich made it remarkably easy. We requested a crib before arrival, and the hotel went far beyond simply putting a crib in our room. They provided bottle warmers, diaper pails and even a nonslip mat for the bathtub. These are small details, but when you’re traveling with a baby, they make a huge difference.
And that’s ultimately what I loved most about Rosewood Munich. It gave us the luxury experience we wanted as adults while also making traveling with a baby feel completely manageable.
In this Rosewood Munich hotel review, I’m sharing everything I think you should know before booking, including the rooms, dining, location, pool and spa, family-friendly amenities and whether I think this hotel is worth the splurge. And if you decide to book, let me know so I can add complimentary VIP perks to your stay!

Why I Chose Rosewood Munich, Germany
When we were planning our first trip to Europe with our daughter, I knew I wanted our hotel in Munich, Germany to be more than just a beautiful place to sleep. We were traveling with an 11-month-old, so location and ease were especially important, but I also didn’t want to compromise on the luxury experience I look for when I travel.
Rosewood Munich checked all of those boxes.
I wanted to be in the heart of Munich so we could walk out of the hotel and explore the city without having to rely on transportation for every outing. I also wanted a hotel with enough to enjoy on property, knowing that traveling with a baby means you don’t necessarily spend every day from morning until night sightseeing.
And, of course, I wanted the hotel itself to feel special.
Rosewood Munich is set within historic buildings in the heart of the Old Town, including the beautifully restored Palais Neuhaus-Preysing. The architecture and history give the hotel a real sense of place, while the interiors feel polished, contemporary and incredibly elegant.
That combination was a big part of the appeal for me. I didn’t want a luxury hotel that could have been anywhere in the world. I wanted somewhere that felt connected to Munich.
Having now stayed here, I can say that the hotel delivered on all of those things and then some.
I don’t recommend Rosewood Munich simply because it has the Rosewood name. What makes it stand out to me is the combination of location, design, service, dining and wellness, all wrapped into a hotel that genuinely works for families.
That last part was especially important to me. We could spend the morning exploring Munich, easily walk back to the hotel when our daughter needed a break (or nap), enjoy the pool or simply relax in our room, and then head back out for dinner. It made our first European trip with a baby feel much easier than I expected.
And honestly, that is what I think great luxury hotels do best. They don’t just give you a beautiful room. They make the entire trip feel a little easier.
The Location: One of the Biggest Reasons to Stay at Rosewood Munich
If I were choosing a hotel in Munich again, the location of Rosewood Munich would be one of the biggest reasons I would come back here!
The hotel is right in the heart of Munich’s Old Town and that means you can walk out the front door and immediately be in the middle of the city. You’re close to the historic sights, beautiful architecture, restaurants, shopping and some of the places you’ll likely want to see on your first visit to Munich.
For me, this was particularly valuable because we were traveling with our little one. When you’re traveling with a baby, I don’t want to spend half the day getting from one place to another. I want to be able to walk out of the hotel, explore for a few hours, stop for lunch, and easily make our way back to the hotel when we need a break.
That’s exactly what we were able to do here.
Rosewood Munich is about a 4 minute walk from Odeonsplatz and roughly six minutes from Marienplatz, putting many of Munich’s major sights within easy walking distance. We spent very little time worrying about transportation during our stay, which made our days feel much more relaxed.
What Can You Walk to From Rosewood Munich?
Quite a lot.
Marienplatz is the historic center of Munich and home to the Neues Rathaus and its famous Glockenspiel. Frauenkirche, with its distinctive twin towers, is also just a short walk away.
You’ll also be close to Munich Residenz, Odeonsplatz, Theatinerkirche, Viktualienmarkt and Hofbräuhaus. If you’re interested in shopping, the boutiques and luxury stores around Maximilianstraße are nearby as well.
And one of our favorite places we visited was the English Garden. We absolutely loved spending time there, and it was such a nice change of pace from exploring the historic center. With a baby, I especially appreciated having somewhere beautiful and open where we could slow down for a bit. And there’s a great beer garden in the park!
Things to Do Near Rosewood Munich
| From Rosewood Munich | Approximate walk |
|---|---|
| Odeonsplatz | 4 minutes |
| Munich Residenz | 5 minutes |
| Marienplatz | 6 minutes |
| Frauenkirche | 6 minutes |
| Maximilianstraße | 5–10 minutes |
| Viktualienmarkt | 10 minutes |
The exact timing will depend on where you’re headed and how quickly you’re walking obviously, but the point is that you can do a lot from here on foot.
And that’s what I think is so valuable about this location. You are walkable, but it is tucked right off on a quieter street which is key.
The Rooms at Rosewod Munich

Okay, let’s get into the room because this is probably what you want to hear about so I will get very detailed for those that want it!
One of the things I always pay attention to when reviewing a luxury hotel is whether the room actually lives up to the rest of the property. At Rosewood Munich, it absolutely did.
We were fortunate to book a Grand Premier Room King and it was one of those hotel rooms that felt genuinely spacious rather than simply looking spacious in photos if you know what I mean. The design was beautiful and thoughtfully done, with elegant details throughout without feeling overly formal.
One of the things that struck me was the trim work throughout the walls in the room (see the photos I shared). It’s a small detail, but to me it really shows the level of thought and quality. The carpet was plush, the curtains felt very high-end, the marble work in the bathroom, and I could tell the finishings were quality throughout the entire room.
We were also able to take advantage of a promotional offer that was available to me and my clients at the time of booking where the third night was complimentary. These types of promotions aren’t always available, but they’re one of the reasons I always recommend checking with me before booking a luxury hotel yourself. When an offer like this is running, it can make a significant difference in the overall value of the stay. You can inquire here if you want me to check!
Our Grand Premier King Room

Our Grand Premier Room King was a wonderful fit for us, especially with a baby.
The king bed was extremely comfortable, which came in handy when our daughter eventually ended up sleeping with us one night. We also had plenty of space throughout the room, including a beautiful bar area that added a really nice touch and made the room feel more like a small apartment than a standard hotel room.
The bathroom was another highlight. It was spacious and beautifully designed with lots of marble, with two vanities, a walk-in shower and a large soaking tub. There was enough room that we never felt like we were all on top of each other, even with baby gear making its way into the room.

And there was a full-length mirror in the room!
As a woman traveling, especially when you’re getting dressed for dinner, I always notice when a hotel room actually has a good full-length mirror. It sounds like such a small thing, but it’s one of those details that makes a room feel more thoughtfully designed.

The entryway was also surprisingly useful. There was plenty of storage for our luggage, and because we had so much baby gear with us, we were able to keep the crib tucked into that area rather than having it take over the main bed room. We also brought our slumberpod along so it worked great to keep her space dark and somewhat separated from us.
And speaking of the crib, it was lovely. We had requested one before arrival, and the hotel provided a beautiful crib with cozy blankets, along with the other baby amenities I mentioned earlier. It felt much more thoughtful than simply checking a box that says “crib available.”
Overall, the room was immaculate, comfortable and incredibly functional, which isn’t always an easy combination to find in a luxury hotel.

What Are the Rooms Like at Rosewood Munich?
Rosewood Munich has a range of accommodations, from its entry level Deluxe Rooms and Premier Rooms to larger Grand Premier Rooms, suites and the hotel’s incredible Houses.
For couples, I think the Deluxe Room is a good starting point if you don’t need a lot of space, while I’d personally look at a Premier or Grand Premier if the budget allows. The extra space makes the experience feel more special, particularly if you’re planning to spend some time enjoying the room and hotel.
For families, I would strongly consider a Grand Premier Room, connecting rooms or one of the family-oriented suite options. Having additional space is one of those things that becomes much more valuable once you add a stroller, crib, luggage and all of the other things that seem to magically accompany a baby or toddler.
And if you’re staying for several nights or simply want the ultimate Rosewood Munich experience, take a look at the Houses. They are absolutely STUNNING and offer a much more residential experience with significantly more space.
Having enough space to spread out makes a city stay dramatically easier.
For us, the Grand Premier gave us room for the crib, our luggage and all of our baby necessities without making the room feel crowded!

Dining at Rosewood Munich
One of the nice things about Rosewood Munich is that you have several dining options without ever having to leave the hotel. We were only there for three nights, so we didn’t try every restaurant, but the two places we did eat were both highlights of our stay.
Brasserie Cuvilliés

We had dinner at Brasserie Cuvilliés, and it ended up being one of my favorite meals of the trip.
The space is beautiful and elegant without feeling overly formal, and the service was attentive throughout our meal. Most importantly, the food was so good. I ordered the vegetarian pasta and it was absolutely divine.
Brasserie Cuvilliés is the hotel’s main restaurant and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, making it an easy option whether you’re looking for a leisurely breakfast before sightseeing or a special dinner without leaving the hotel.
Palaishof

Lunch at Palaishof was another one of my favorite moments at the hotel.
The restaurant is set around a beautiful courtyard and it felt like the perfect place to slow down for a bit after sightseeing. I had a simple lunch of a salad and French fries with a crisp glass of wine, and honestly, it was exactly what I wanted.
Sometimes those simple vacation lunches end up being the most memorable. Sitting outside in such a beautiful setting, enjoying a leisurely lunch with my baby and not having anywhere else to be for a little while was a highlight for me.
Bar Montez
We didn’t make it to Bar Montez during this trip, but it’s worth knowing about if you’re looking for a more intimate evening spot. The bar has a sophisticated, library inspired atmosphere and focuses on cocktails and live jazz.
If you’re traveling with kids, note that guests under 18 aren’t permitted in Bar Montez after 8 p.m., so I’d save this one for a date night or adults-only evening.
Wintergarten

Wintergarten is the hotel’s more relaxed space and a nice option for coffee, breakfast, afternoon tea or a casual bite during the day. It’s also a pretty place to simply sit and enjoy the hotel without committing to a full meal.
Schanigarten
If you’re visiting during the warmer months, Schanigarten is the seasonal outdoor dining option. It’s a lovely choice for enjoying a meal or drink outside and taking advantage of Munich’s warmer weather.
Asaya Spa, Pool & Wellness at Rosewood Munich
One of my favorite things about Rosewood Munich was having a beautiful wellness space right inside the hotel. The Asaya Spa makes Rosewood feel like more than a luxury city hotel that you return to after sightseeing. It gives you a reason to slow down and actually enjoy the property.
The spa includes an indoor pool, sauna, steam rooms, treatment rooms, fitness center and spaces for yoga and meditation, along with a range of wellness and beauty treatments.

The Indoor Pool
The indoor pool was one of our favorite amenities, especially with our daughter!
I think a beautiful indoor pool changes the equation when you’re choosing a luxury city hotel for a family. You’re not asking your kids to sightsee from breakfast until bedtime. You can spend the morning exploring Munich, come back to the hotel for some pool time and downtime, and then head back out for dinner.
That’s exactly the kind of flexibility I appreciated while traveling with an 11-month-old.
We loved being able to have some time at the pool during our stay, and it gave us something enjoyable to do at the hotel without needing to plan another activity. It was also a nice way to break up our sightseeing days.

For Couples
If you’re traveling without kids, I think Asaya is another reason to consider Rosewood Munich.
You can spend an afternoon at the spa, book a treatment, enjoy the sauna or steam rooms, take a swim and simply have some quiet time before getting ready for dinner.
I love when a city hotel offers this kind of balance. You can spend the morning exploring Munich and then come back to the hotel and feel like you’ve completely changed gears.
Is Rosewood Munich Family Friendly?
One of the things that surprised me most about Rosewood Munich was just how easy they made traveling with a baby.
This was our first trip to Europe with our daughter, who was 11 months old at the time, so I was paying particularly close attention to how the hotel handled the realities of traveling with a baby. And Rosewood Munich absolutely impressed me.
I’ve stayed at plenty of luxury hotels that are technically family friendly, but there is a big difference between a hotel that allows children and one that actually understands what parents need.
Rosewood Munich gets it!
The Baby Amenities Were Some of the Best We’ve Received
Before our arrival, we requested a crib, and the hotel went so far beyond simply putting a crib in the room.
They provided one of the nicest hotel cribs we’ve received, complete with cozy blankets, along with an impressive list of thoughtful baby amenities:
- Bottle warmer
- Diaper pail
- Swim diapers
- Baby toiletries
- Hooded bath towel
- Nonslip bath mat for the bathtub
- Potty, which would be especially helpful for families who are potty training
- Crib and bedding
These are little things, but they make a huge difference when you’re traveling internationally with a baby.
And having a nonslip bath mat and baby toiletries waiting for us was one less thing to think about.
It was clear that these weren’t just generic children’s amenities pulled together at the last minute. There was real thought behind what a family might actually need and what I didn’t even KNOW we needed!

More Than Just Baby Amenities
Rosewood Munich also offers family rooms and suites, connecting room options and additional accommodations for families who need more space.
Children six and under can also stay in their parents’ existing bedding at no additional charge, while extra beds are available in certain room categories.
And then there is the indoor pool, which we loved.
For me, this is where the hotel’s family friendliness really comes together. You have the space and amenities to make the room work for a family, a central location that makes sightseeing easier, an indoor pool for downtime and multiple dining options right downstairs.
What I appreciate about a luxury family hotel isn’t necessarily a kids’ club or a giant pool.
It’s whether the hotel makes traveling with kids easier without making the experience feel like you’re staying at a family resort.
Rosewood Munich does that really well. Truly all Rosewood hotels are so thoughtful for families.
The hotel still feels sophisticated and luxe. The design is beautiful, the restaurants feel special and the service is exceptional. But at the same time, nobody makes you feel like your baby is an inconvenience.
For our first European trip with a baby, feeling welcomed was exactly what we needed.

Is Rosewood Munich Worth It?
For me, yep.
Rosewood Munich is an expensive hotel and I don’t think every traveler needs to spend this much on a hotel in Munich. But after staying here, I understand what you’re paying for and for the right traveler, I think it is worth the splurge.
For me, it wasn’t just about having a beautiful room. It was the combination of everything: the incredible location, the design, the service, the dining, the pool and spa, and the fact that the hotel made traveling with a baby surprisingly easy.
I think Rosewood Munich is worth it if:
- You want to stay in the heart of Munich and walk to many of the city’s major sights
- Beautiful design and exceptional service are important to you
- You want the hotel itself to be part of your travel experience
- You plan to spend some time enjoying the property rather than simply sleeping there
- You’re traveling with kids and want a hotel that makes the logistics easier
- You appreciate having excellent restaurants, a pool and spa all in one place
On the other hand, I might choose a different hotel if you’re planning to be out sightseeing from morning until night and really don’t care about your hotel beyond having a comfortable place to sleep.
I’d also look elsewhere if your main priority is getting the lowest possible room rate. There are certainly less expensive hotels in Munich and you can have a wonderful trip without spending Rosewood-level prices.
But if you’re the kind of traveler like me who believes where you stay is part of the trip, I think Rosewood Munich is absolutely worth considering.
And that’s really the biggest takeaway from my stay. I didn’t feel like we were simply using Rosewood Munich as our home base for exploring the city. The hotel was part of the experience.
We loved coming back to it after a day in Munich, spending time at the pool, having lunch in the courtyard, enjoying dinner at Brasserie Cuvilliés and relaxing in our beautiful room while our daughter napped.
After staying here, Rosewood Munich is easily one of the properties I’d recommend most highly for a luxury stay in Munich, and it has become one of my favorite Rosewood hotels I’ve experienced!
Rosewood Munich vs. Mandarin Oriental Munich: Which Is Better?
If you are deciding where to stay in Munich, you might be picking between these two and rightfully so.
Both are excellent luxury hotels if you ask me, but I think the better choice really comes down to what kind of Munich experience YOU want. I would look beyond the room and compare the location, design, amenities, YOUR unique travel style and how you’re actually planning to spend your time in Munich.
Choose Rosewood Munich if…
You want a grand, design forward luxury hotel with a strong sense of place, excellent wellness amenities and a particularly easy family experience. Rosewood Munich is my pick for families, especially after staying here with our daughter. The indoor pool, thoughtful baby amenities, spacious rooms and central location made our stay incredibly easy without the hotel ever feeling like a family resort.
It’s also a great fit if you plan to enjoy the hotel itself, with multiple restaurants, the beautiful Asaya Spa and pool giving you plenty of reasons to come back between sightseeing.
Choose Mandarin Oriental Munich if…
You want a more intimate, classic luxury hotel experience with a smaller boutique feel (only 73 rooms). Mandarin Oriental Munich is a great choice for couples or travelers who prioritize personalized service and a quieter, more traditional luxury atmosphere, while still wanting to be centrally located in Munich. And the rooftop pool is big plus in the summer!
So, which would I choose?
For my own trip, I obviously chose Rosewood Munich and would again.
That said, I wouldn’t automatically recommend Rosewood to every client. This is exactly where having a travel advisor can be valuable. I can help you compare the two based on how you actually travel, your room requirements, budget and what you want your Munich experience to feel like, rather than simply sending you the hotel with the highest nightly rate.
And I can book either hotel for you with applicable preferred rates and VIP benefits such as breakfast, potential upgrades, hotel credits and early or late check-in/out when available.
You don’t have to figure out which luxury hotel is “best” on your own. That’s part of what I love most about what I do! Email me to inquire.
The Wrap Up: Rosewood Munich Hotel Review & How to Book
After staying at Rosewood Munich with my husband and our 11 month old daughter, I can confidently say this is a hotel I would recommend without hesitation. It is one of the most beautiful luxury hotels I’ve stayed in, the location is exceptional, the service is outstanding, and the thoughtful family amenities made our first European trip with a baby so much easier than I expected.
If you’re planning a luxury trip to Munich, Rosewood Munich is one of the hotels I’d put at the top of your list.
How You Book Matters
If you’ve decided Rosewood Munich is the right hotel for your trip, I recommend reaching out to me or another travel advisor before booking it on your own.

Yes, especially the Grand Premier Room we stayed in. Our Grand Premier Room King felt genuinely spacious, with plenty of room for our luggage, crib and baby gear, plus a beautiful bathroom with two vanities and a soaking tub. I would recommend making reservations, particularly for dinner at Brasserie Cuvilliés. We had dinner there and loved it, but did not make a reservations in advance. If you can make one, it’s always good to have it!

Save it for later!
