There is quite a learning curve as first time parents. There is so much you are discovering and googling as you adjust to parenthood and care for your child. Luckily, there are so many great baby products out there that can make your life a bit easier these days! I’m sharing all of the newborn baby essentials we have been loving these past few weeks with our daughter.

Snuggle Me Infant Lounger
The Snuggle Me lounger is a must have for those early weeks. It was so nice to have a safe place in the living room to set Camilla down. She loved the way it hugged her – kind of like being in the womb. She would take supervised naps in it, but after about a month will not sleep in it. We still use it to set her down, but just know it may not be a long term item depending on your baby. I do recommend the cover to easily wash – babies spit up a lot!
I also loved having this when visitors came by – it deterred them from asking to hold her (or gave me an excuse) when she was sleeping soundly.
Baby Carriers
I love baby wearing! And, she loves it too. Babies need to be close to their mama as newborns – they don’t realize they aren’t attached to you anymore!
I loved the Solly Baby Wrap and Moby Wrap the first 4 weeks because it’s super lightweight and holds her close to me. It’s easy to get on once you watch the video online and do it a couple times. Eventually, this wrap was getting a little difficult for me. She seemed too heavy by 6 weeks and it was hard to keep it tight enough. I was constantly readjusting.
So, I looked at some more structured carriers that we could use long term as she grows. I like the Wildbird Aerial Carrier and it is a decent price point, however, it’s on backorder for several months. I also like the Baby Bjorn Mini a lot and it’s only $100. The neutral color is simple and chic. The downside is that it’s only good for 12 months. I don’t see myself wearing a toddler, but I need to be able to when those moments arise – like strapping her on at an airport, etc. Which lead me to….
The Artipoppe carrier is really nice and so CHIC! It’s also SO expensive. I did a lot of research before pulling the trigger on this. I heard so many people say how much they loved it. I decided to do it for a couple reasons – I hope to have several kids so this will get lots of use, it is certified hip healthy for her, distributes weight to be easy on my back, can wear her many ways, and I can always resell as there’s a big market for them. Lastly, I consider it a “push present” to myself! You can use my referral code for $57 (50 Euros) off at Artipoppe – not sponsored, they just have a referral program which you’ll also have access to if you make a purchase! 🙂
Poppyseed Play Gym
I love that this is a wooden play gym and beautifully crafted. I didn’t want a plastic one for the potential toxic materials. Since this lives in our living room, I like that it’s a bit more aesthetic and can change out the toys for more color or place it over various mats or even the infant lounger. She loves playing with it! We started using it at about 3 weeks as she became more alert with longer wake windows.
Pehr Play Mat
You absolutely need a mat for tummy time to keep baby away from dirty carpets. I love this one because it’s plush and two sided so you can switch up the print. Goes great with our activity gym too.
Rattles
Yes, you actually use rattles. I love this precious bunny one and this more developmentally focused one. The baby will track it as you move from one side to the other. Great for getting her to switch her head to the other side so she doesn’t get a flat side!
Baby Bjorn Bouncer
Our daughter was not quite big enough until about 5-6 weeks to use this. She likes it some of the time haha. I’m hoping she’ll love it as she grows because it’s such a great little bouncer to set her in while you get things done.
Stroller
You have to have a stroller and we love ours! I really like the bassinet attachment and the all black colorway. I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on the color. We also have the Mesa car seats that attach right onto this stroller base as well. We take lots of walks and she is always comfortable!
It is not too heavy and I’m able to lift it in and out of my car easily.
Tummy Time Mirror & High Contrast Book
I bought this after the first week because I needed something to entertain her! The paper crinkles loudly and she is super intrigued by the high contrast colors.
Our Baby Monitor
We like the Nanit monitor because it is right on your phone meaning you can watch your baby anytime even when you’re back at work! You can even talk to her through it. At first, I didn’t love that there was not a separate monitor screen, but I’ve come to love it. It is so easy and convenient to not have an extra screen to carry around. It does drain your battery, but you get used to keeping it charged. It’s super convenient for travel as well – just connect to WiFi and get the little travel kit with stand and carry case.
Sound Machines
Sound machines are so necessary. We live in the city and it can be quite noisy at our house. We have the Nanit Sound & Light which will grow with us as she becomes a toddler. We also have portable ones that we’ve traveled with for years. I got another one that clips onto her stroller for when we are on the go.
