Summer Weather in Paris
When planning your Olympics outfits, it is important to first consider the climate. The 2024 Olympics will be held on July 26, 2024 through August 11, 2024. This is peak summer in Europe.
The weather in Paris during the summer is quite warm. Temperatures will average around 78ºF during the day and around 60ºF in the evenings. When I visited Paris, the temperature felt much warmer than this with the direct sun. Plus, you will do a lot of walking in Paris!
At the Olympics, it is likely that there will not be much shade so sun protection and hats are a must!
In July, the sun sets around 9:45pm in Paris! So you can expect long and warm summer days. You most likely won’t need a light sweater unless you are out much later than this.
Parisian Style
Paris is the fashion capital of the world so you want to look chic and somewhat blend in with the locals!
Parisian style is effortlessly chic. In Paris, they have mastered dressing casual yet sophisticated. If you are hoping to dress like the locals, go for solids or classic patterns like stripes, gingham and floral. Neutral and pastel colors make a great choice.
If you a trying to blend in, you should avoid neon colors, large logos, graphic tees, floppy hats, and fanny packs as that will surely show how American you are.
I wouldn’t worry about looking too much like a tourist though. This event brings in people from all over the world so everyone will be a tourist. This is what makes it so special and fun to attend – seeing where everyone is from!

Olympics Dress Code & Bag Rules
There is not an official olympics dress code, however, there are some important rules you will want to follow. You can find the whole list of prohibited items here from the official Olympics site. Notably, you are not allowed to bring big umbrellas, professional cameras, large bags over 25L, or large water bottles over 25cl.
The bag policy states that you can take a bag with capacity up to 25L to the Paris Olympics. This equates to a medium sized bag or backpack. I recommend to take a small bag as you’ll have to carry it around all day. Pack as light as possible!
Olympics Outfit Ideas for Americans
Next, let’s help get you packed with the perfect outfits to wear to the summer Olympics in Paris, France! Most importantly, it will be hot so opt for breathable fabrics like cotton and linen. Moisture wicking active wear is always a safe choice. And be sure to pack a hat that you can wear or at least hook to your purse if you want it!
Above all, choose outfits that will be most comfortable for YOU personally. I would avoid bulky materials, jeans, silky materials that show sweat, anything that requires shape wear, and flip flops.

Flowy, Breathable Dresses and Skirts
Dresses are a great choice to wear in Paris as they offer breathability while still looking nice. Sundresses are popular among the locals in the summer as well.
A cute dress is perfect to wear to the Olympics for more high end events like golf, tennis, or equestrian.
Here are a few red, white and blue options that I’m loving:
