3 Day Asheville Itinerary – A Long Weekend in Asheville
Asheville is home to tons of hiking trails, an eclectic downtown, vast history and a vibrant arts scene, not to mention over 30 breweries. Here are some of the must see things in Asheville for a laid back 3 days in Asheville.
Day 1 – Welcome to Asheville
Day 1 assumes you’ll arrive on a Thursday or Friday around lunchtime with only a half day to explore.
Lunch at Sierra Nevada Brewing
Start your long weekend in Asheville trip with lunch at Sierra Nevada Brewing. The setting is beautiful, and the food is delicious. I loved the outdoor patio which often has live music. It’s a fun stop on your way into Asheville – we’ve been several times and it’s ideal for adults and kids, too!
Check in to The Restoration Hotel
Once in Asheville, check into The Restoration Hotel. The location is perfect for exploring downtown. The rooms are stylish and cozy.
Dinner at Cúrate
For a taste of Spain, head to my personal favorite, Cúrate, where you can indulge in authentic tapas and vibrant flavors. If you only go to one restaurant in Asheville, this is the one!
The restaurant is known for its extensive wine list and standout dishes like patatas bravas and jamón ibérico. The lively atmosphere and communal dining style make it a fun spot to share plates with friends.
The word Curate means “cure yourself” in Spanish and that is exactly what this comfort food will do. I love to share lots of different things when dining so tapas is one of my favorite styles. Make sure to get lots of small plates and the sangria. Highly suggest reservations at least one month in advance.
Live music in downtown Asheville
After dinner, wander downtown and catch some live music. There’s always something happening. We loved listening to local bands while enjoying the lively vibe.
Day 2 – Wellness Day with Hike and Grove Park Spa
Day 2 of your 3 days in Asheville is all about wellness blending an outdoor hike with a relaxing spa afternoon at one of the best spas in North Carolina!
Morning hike
Kick off the day with a scenic hike. We chose a nearby trail with beautiful mountain views. It’s a great way to take in the fresh air and natural beauty.
The Blue Ridge Parkway is known as America’s most scenic drive and for good reason. You will see the highest peaks near Asheville and also have easy access to some amazing hikes and viewpoints from the parkway.

Brunch at Tupelo Honey
A local favorite, Tupelo Honey is renowned for its Southern comfort food with a twist and a must for your long weekend in Asheville itinerary. From their famous fried chicken to the delicious sweet potato pancakes, the menu celebrates local ingredients and traditional recipes. The warm, welcoming atmosphere makes it a perfect spot for breakfast or brunch.
They opened a location when I lived in Greenville, SC and we went here all the time for the best brunches with plenty of bloody mary’s!
White Duck Taco Shop (Riverside Location – when reopened)
As an alternate lunch spot, if you aren’t feeling brunch – Get ready for the most unique tacos at White Duck Taco Shop. These are not your typical Mexican style tacos, but they put a spin on things like banh mi, gyros, and jerk chicken. I had the Banh Mi Tofu and Bangkok Shrimp tacos with chips and margaritas of course!
They are also super vegan friendly as any of the tacos can substitute jackfruit for the “meat”.
I recommend the riverside location to enjoy the expansive outdoor seating along the French Broad River. They are under construction from the floods – but check their website in case it reopens before your trip!
It is super kid friendly if traveling with your family.

Stroll downtown Asheville
Spend time strolling downtown Asheville. Pop into shops, galleries, and bookstores. It’s fun to explore at your own pace.
Spa appointments at the Grove Park Inn
Head to the Grove Park Inn for a spa afternoon. The spa is stunning and so relaxing. It is one of the absolute best spas in the whole state and you could easily spend a whole day relaxing here.
Drinks on the terrace at the Grove Park
After your spa treatments, grab a cocktail on the terrace. The sunset views over the mountains are unforgettable and I adored an early evening here!
Dinner at Rhubarb
Led by acclaimed chef Bruce Moffett, Rhubarb offers a farm-to-table experience that highlights the best of seasonal ingredients. The menu features dishes inspired by Southern cuisine, with options like house-made pasta and creative vegetable plates. Don’t miss their craft cocktails and impressive wine selection to complement your meal.
Day 3 – Tour the Biltmore Estate and River Arts District
Morning tour of the Biltmore Estate
Spend the morning at the Biltmore Estate. The house is impressive, and the gardens are beautiful. I recommend booking a timed entry in advance.
If you have not been to the Biltmore, you are in for a treat! I remember being blown away as a kid, but from an adult perspective I was even more in awe of this place. It is a must for any 3 day Asheville Itinerary!
The Biltmore is the largest privately owned home in America sitting on 8,000 acres. The estate was built by George Vanderbilt in the 1800s to replicate the working plantations of Europe and is still owned by his descendants.
This castle of a home is exquisite, but the landscape is about as impressive. Designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, who also designed Central Park in New York and the US Capitol Grounds, this former forest was turned into an intentionally and thoughtfully planned park.
Go at Christmas time to see it decorated in all its glory!
Lunch and wine tasting at Biltmore
Stay at Biltmore for lunch and a wine tasting. The winery offers a lovely variety. We enjoyed the sparkling selections most.
Shop for art in the River Arts District
Head to the River Arts District in the afternoon. Browse local art studios and galleries. It’s a great way to support Asheville’s creative community.
This former industrial area has transformed into a thriving artist community. Home to over 200 artists, the River Arts District features numerous studios and galleries. You can wander through the district, meet artists, and view their work in various mediums, including painting, ceramics, and sculpture. Many studios host open houses and events, allowing visitors to engage directly with the artists.
Beer and casual dinner at Wicked Weed
Wrap up your trip with a beer and casual dinner at Wicked Weed. We loved their outdoor seating and laid-back vibe. The beer selection is fantastic.
The Chocolate Fetish
After your meal, don’t forget dessert! The Chocolate Fetish is a must-visit for handcrafted chocolates and confections. Their artisanal treats make for a sweet end to your culinary adventure in Asheville.
