Packing Tips
Packing for a trip can be overwhelming, especially when you’re trying to fit everything into a limited amount of space. Here are a few packing tips that can help you pack efficiently and make the most of your luggage space:
- Make a list of essential items that you need to pack, and stick to it. Avoid packing unnecessary items that you won’t use on your trip.
- Roll your clothes instead of folding them. This will save space and prevent wrinkles.
- Use packing cubes to organize your clothes and accessories. This will make it easier to find what you need and keep your luggage neat and tidy especially should TSA need to open your suitcase for any reason.
- Pack versatile clothing items that can be worn in multiple ways.
- Choose lightweight and wrinkle-resistant fabrics that are easy to pack and won’t take up too much space in your luggage.
- Bring a small bag for dirty laundry to keep it separate from your clean clothes.
- Use travel-size toiletries to save space and avoid carrying heavy bottles.
By following these packing tips, you can pack efficiently and make the most of your luggage space. Remember to pack only what you need, and leave the rest at home.
Electronic Packing Essentials List
When it comes to traveling, technology and gadgets can make your life easier and more enjoyable. Here are some essential tech items to consider when packing for your trip:
Headphones – the ultimate travel essential
Bose Headphones – noise cancelling headphones are a must have travel essential on an airplane. I love your kids, but do not want to hear them cry! Bose makes these ones very comfortable and the charge lasts forever. They are the best headphones for traveling on an airplane!
Kindle
Kindle – I love an actual bound book, but Kindle is much more convenient so I can read lots of books on my trips! Pro tip: I use my library card to get free books from the Libby App and send them to my kindle. They also have audio books available.
Tripod for Better Selfies
Tripod and Bluetooth Remote – This is one of the best things I have purchased. It is so helpful on trips to allow me to get great photos without needing to ask someone else to take it. I love that the tripod is bendable so I can wrap it around a tree if i needed!
My Drone
Drone – I am so glad we purchased this before our honeymoon. We bought it way before there was a blog and is truly just for fun! I love seeing the perspective of a destination from above and man was the Seychelles stunning from this view! Here is the one we have:
Adapter
Don’t leave home without my favorite adapter for all your electronics.
Travel Sound Machine
I always travel with our mini sound machine. Sometimes hotel rooms (or a city) can be super noisy so this helps tune it out with white noise. Mostly though, it comes in handy when a hotel can be a little too quiet! It is no bigger than the palm of your hand so it travels easily 🙂
Sleep Travel Essentials for Women
My favorite travel essentials for women on overnight flights to help you sleep and wake up feeling refreshed.
Melatonin
I only recently tried melatonin, but find it so helpful to fall asleep on the plane and for fighting jet lag!
Sleep Mask for Long Flights
Sleep Mask – this one from Manta was gifted to me as a bridesmaid present. It is comfortable, completely dark, and even has lavender scented refills! LOL at this picture….🙃
Under Eye Patches
While you are getting some rest, you will still need a little help waking up to look your best self. The under eye patches are the best for travel on a long flight to reduce puffy eyes and dark circles. I love to wake up and put these one while drinking tea before we land.
Facial Spray
I use this throughout a flight and after I wake up to feel refreshed. It’s a random find, but I love it.
Travel Size Dry Shampoo
You will need this after an overnight flight. A must-have travel essentials for women.
Lip Mask
This is an absolute must! I am out West right now and it is SO dry. This has been saving me from chapped lips. I layer it on at night and throughout the day.
Style & Clothing Essentials for Travel
In addition to practical items, there are a few key pieces of clothing and accessories that every woman should consider bringing on a trip. A comfortable pair of walking shoes, a versatile jacket or sweater, and a scarf or shawl can help you stay comfortable and stylish no matter where your travels take you.
My top travel essentials for women to look good, but also be comfortable exploring a new place. Here are some clothing essentials that every woman should consider when packing for a trip:
Comfortable White Sneakers
Soludos Ibiza Sneakers are my favorite wardrobe addition this year and newest travel essential. Once I finally pulled the trigger, I am so glad I did. Soludos are comfortable and match with everything – jeans, dresses, shorts – you name it! The reviews said to size up, but I did not and had to exchange them – save yourself the trouble.
Allbirds Sneakers
Allbirds Wool Runners have been my go to for years. They are comfortable for lounging, wearing on planes, and running errands!
Layering Pieces
Layering pieces are key to staying comfortable in a variety of temperatures. A lightweight cardigan, denim jacket, or scarf can easily be added or removed as needed. Plus, they can help you create different outfits with just a few key pieces.
Cute Dresses
I love to pack dresses for trips because you can wear them from day to night. Wear one with sneakers during the day then add heels and jewelry at night to transition the look! Plus, it is only one piece to you are saving so much packing space.
Comfortable Pants
When it comes to pants, choose options that are comfortable and versatile. Leggings or yoga pants are great for travel days or lounging, while jeans can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Look for fabrics that are wrinkle-resistant and easy to care for.
Swimwear
If you’re headed to a destination with a beach or pool, don’t forget to pack your swimwear and coverups!
Accessories
Accessories can help you elevate any outfit and add some personality to your travel wardrobe. A statement necklace, colorful scarf, or stylish hat can all help you stand out and make a statement. Be sure to pack versatile options that go with all of your outfits.
Toiletries and Personal Care
When it comes to packing for a trip, toiletries and personal care items are essential. Here are some must-haves to consider:
- Travel-sized shampoo, conditioner, and body wash
- Facial cleanser and moisturizer
- Deodorant
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Hairbrush or comb
- Hair ties and clips
- Sunscreen (reef safe!)
- Bug spray
- Hand sanitizer
- Curling Iron
When packing your toiletries, it’s important to consider the size and weight of each item. Look for travel-sized versions or transfer your favorite products into smaller containers to save space. Additionally, be sure to pack any medications or supplements you may need, and keep them in their original packaging to avoid any issues at airport security.
Luggage Essentials List
One of the most important things to consider when packing for a trip is the type of luggage you will be using. A durable, lightweight suitcase or backpack with plenty of compartments can make all the difference in keeping your belongings safe and organized. It’s also a good idea to invest in a high-quality travel wallet or passport holder to keep your important documents in one place.
Luggage
I recently decided to purchase a rolling suitcase after YEARS of traveling around the world in a leather duffel bag. It was so heavy and becoming such a pain to carry around.
After ample research, I went with the Monos Carry On sized suitcase for its sleek design, lightweight shell, smooth rolling wheels, and handle that adjusts to your height. It also comes with a magic eraser, laundry bag, shoe bag, and storage bag to keep it clean when at home. I have taken it on many flights already to Argentina, Chile, Florida, and Phoenix and it has seriously impressed me! It’s easy to load on and off flights and packing is super easy with the carefully designed interior and compression pad that allows me to maximize the space!
Packing Cubes
Packing Cubes are the best invention for travel. They help to keep all of your items organized and easy to find. Added bonus that your suitcase is organized in case TSA needs to open it for any reason. I recommend these inexpensive Amazon finds so you can determine which sizes you will actually use on trips before going for an expensive or customized set.
Apple Air Tags
These air tags are super important right now especially when checking a bag. After the fiasco that was air travel last summer, make sure you know where your bag is even if the airline does not.
and don’t forget the air tag key chain to go along with it!
Mini Jewelry Case
Keep all of your necklaces orderly so you don’t have to untangle them later. I have this one:
And also really like this one:
Best Snacks for Travel
I always take my own snacks for the plane and to have while out exploring a new destination.
Plant Based Protein Bars
Aloha Bars are my absolute favorite find of 2021 and I do not leave the house without one. They are the best tasting vegan protein bars and I also love the protein powder for mixing in smoothies. Not only are they delicious, but made with minimal plant-based ingredients – no sketchy eggs.
These are great bars for traveling whether an airplane snack, breakfast or when you are out exploring! Only about 220 calories depending on flavor and full of protein (~14g) and fiber (~10g) to keep you full. Favorite flavors are mint chocolate chip, chocolate chip, and peanut butter.
Almond Butter and Crackers
Justin’s Almond Butter Packets and gigi crackers make a filling snack with tons of protein from the packets and fiber from the crackers.
Hydration
Nuun – I prefer these to liquid IV as they are less sugary. They also come in tablet form which is far less messy on an airplane! It is so important to hydrate, especially when traveling.
Collagen Packets
Vital Proteins makes their collagen into packet form that is so convenient for traveling which is why they are one of my travel essentials. You can mix it into your coffee, smoothie/juice, or water for some extra protein.
Easy Meal Prep
Daily Harvest – I do not travel with these, but love having a stash in the fridge for when I return from a trip. They are great to have when you don’t feel like cooking or grocery shopping. Filling, taste great, and plant based!
Tip: I throw all my travel snacks into a large freezer zip lock bag so I can easily pull them out of my bag for TSA (and easily eat them).
Important Documents
Passport
Obviously, you won’t want to leave home without your passport for international travel or your license for domestic.
Travel Insurance
Bring a copy of your travel insurance coverage in case you need it!
Travel Credit Card
I’ve had the Capital One Venture Card for years and it has earned me several free flights! I love taking it on trips since there are no foreign transaction fees and I earn 2 miles per dollar on every purchase, plus 5 miles per dollar on travel expenses like hotels and rental cars! You also get $100 towards your application for TSA PreCheck or Global Entry. This a definite travel essential to add to your packing list!
Safety and Security
When traveling, safety and security should always be a top priority for women. Here are some tips to help ensure your safety:
- Research your destination before you go. Be aware of any safety concerns or areas to avoid.
- Keep your valuables, such as your passport, cash, and credit cards, in a secure location. Consider using a money belt or hidden pockets in your clothing.
- Be aware of your surroundings and stay alert. Avoid walking alone at night or in unfamiliar areas.
- Consider carrying a personal alarm or whistle to attract attention in case of an emergency.
- Stay in well-lit areas and avoid dark alleys or secluded places.
- Be cautious when using public transportation. Keep your belongings close and be aware of pickpockets.
- Always let someone know where you are going and when you expect to return.
It’s also important to be prepared for unexpected situations. Here are some items you may want to consider packing for added security:
Item | Purpose |
Portable Door Lock | Security for your hotel room |
Self-Defense Keychain | Defend yourself against harm |
Birdie Personal Alarm | Attracts attention in case of emergency |
Pepper Spray | Defend yourself in case of an attack |
Final Thoughts
Traveling can be a wonderful and enriching experience for women, but it’s important to be prepared with the right essentials. By packing smart and efficiently, you can ensure that you have everything you need without weighing yourself down.
Remember to pack versatile clothing that can be mixed and matched, as well as comfortable shoes for long days of exploring. Don’t forget to bring important documents like your passport and travel insurance, and consider investing in a quality travel bag to keep everything organized.
When it comes to personal care items, opt for travel-sized products and pack them in a clear plastic bag to make going through security a breeze. And don’t forget to prioritize your health and safety by packing any necessary medications and researching any potential health risks at your destination.
Overall, with a bit of planning and preparation, you can set yourself up for a successful and enjoyable trip.
