1. Protein Bars – Aloha or Go Macro
I always have a protein bar on me 24/7. I love to pack these for air travel so I can have them at the airport and in my destination. We usually bring enough to have 1 per day to last throughout our trips. If it’s a really long trip, stock up in your destination or at the airport. There are usually decent options in most airports.
My favorite is Aloha Bars for their plant-based protein bars. I love that they are lower in calories with high protein as opposed to many other brands. Most are around 220 calories for 14g of protein depending on the flavor. My go to flavors are peanut butter cup, chocolate mint, and lemon cashew.
I am also loving Go Macro bars for the same reasons – they are also fully vegan!
2. Roasted Edamame
This is a new find for me and I’m loving these individual roasted edamame packets. They are a great low calorie, high protein option for travel and are very portable. For only 100 calories, you get 11g of plant protein and 4g of fiber. They are great to pair with fruit, throw on a salad, or eat alone.
3. Nut Butter Packets
I love nut butter packets because you can combine them with a banana just about anywhere in the world. They also go great alone for a quick snack. I like the Justin’s almond butter in the honey flavor!
4. Instant Oatmeal Cups
Instant Oatmeal Cups are great for a road trip, but take up a bit more space if you are flying. However, they make an easy airplane snack since you can simply ask the flight attendants for hot water to mix them up! I would bring at least 1 for an overnight flight so you have a healthy meal option that is somewhat substantial.
5. Roasted Chickpeas
Roasted chickpeas are a great snack and they come in tons of flavors to keep it interesting. You can also easily make them at home by sprinkling your favorite seasonings and place in the oven for about 25 mins at 350. Try cinnamon and sugar for a sweet treat! 8g of protein AND 8g of fiber!
6. Chocolate Covered Almonds
These little chocolate covered almond packs are great to throw in your purse while out and about. They are super compact for a small 60 calories snack. A great sweet treat when you are craving desert, but want to stay healthy.
7. Mixed Nuts and Seeds Packs
Mixed nuts and seeds are always a great option to reach for. They are always easily found throughout airports so you can pick some up while in transit if you don’t want to bring too much from home.
8. Whole Fruit
Not high protein on its own, but is high in fiber which keeps you full. Pair it with nut butter or any of these other options and you have a well-balanced, filling meal.
Super easy to bring from home. Grab something easy like an apple or banana on your way out the door – they’ll probably go bad while you are away. You can also usually find these on a hotel breakfast buffet or sometimes in your hotel room. I would stay away from anything messy that you have to peel like an orange or grapefruit.
9. Collagen Peptide Packets
These collagen peptides packs are a great travel snack because they are so compact! I love to mix them in a coffee, juice, or smoothie for a protein boost when I’m traveling.
10. Jerky
I have a friend that swears by these Epic Bars. I don’t eat meat anymore, but she always has these with her for a snack so I know they must be good. It depends on which flavor you get, but expect anywhere from 10-15g of protein for under 200 calories!
Lastly, I like to pack all of my snacks in a clear gallon sized ziplock bag. It keeps everything in one place and easy to pull out for security. They almost always make me pull out the snacks since there’s so much! I place the bag right in my personal item for carry on – usually a big purse or backpack – so I can easily access them from my seat!
