These are the best luxury hotels in Savannah, GA
All of my favorite places to stay in Savannah.
1. Hotel Bardo

Number one is Hotel Bardo, the absolute best luxury hotel in Savannah in my opinion! The 149 luxury room property is brand new (opened in 2024) across from famed Forsyth Park. As a member of Leading Hotels of the World, the hotel is dedicated to providing impeccable service and a luxury experience.
The location is perfect for enjoying Forsyth Park, nearby restaurants, attractions like the famous Mercer Williams House, and local shops. It is a bit further from River Street so you can enjoy a more peaceful escape.
The hotel offers 149 luxury rooms with 20 of those being suites. The decor is super chic and calming with light wood tones and plenty of natural light. The dedication to quality is evident throughout the furnishings.
One of the highlights is Hotel Bardo‘s outdoor courtyard which includes a lawn, pool, and pool bar. The pool and Bar Bibi is Mediterranean-inspired making it feel like you’ve stepped into a chic pool club on the Amalfi Coast. The yellow striped umbrellas and orange tones at the poolside cabana bar will have you yearning for a spritzy cocktail!
One of my favorite spots is appropriately referred to as “The Oasis”. This covered courtyard features multiple areas of lounge seating, terracotta planters lush with greenery, and stunning light fixtures. You really just need to see pictures of this gorgeous retreat (shared above)!
The Saltgrass Spa is there for relaxing spa treatments or visit the fitness center where they offer group pilates classes.
Saint Bibiana
Lastly, the onsite restaurant, Saint Bibiana’s, is expertly designed from it’s decor to the menu. This coastal Italian spot is perfect for a romantic date night or group girl’s brunch on the weekends.
Hotel guests are allowed upstairs to the exclusive members-only, Club Bardo – a trendy social club with a bar and entertainment.
Hotel Bardo is my new go-to spot in Savannah! If you’re looking for the very best place to stay in Savannah, this is the answer. It works so well for families, couples, and definitely girls weekends!

2. Perry Lane Hotel

We stayed at the Perry Lane hotel on my last visit to Savannah. If you are looking for one of the best hotels in Savannah, I highly recommend it for its understated luxury and location in the Savannah historic district.
The Perry Lane is a Marriott Luxury Collection Hotel and is rated 5 stars. It has a very elegant, southern ambiance throughout from the guest rooms to the cozy library.
One of my favorite parts is Peregrin, the lively rooftop terrace with a bar and multiple lounge areas. The view looks out over the Savannah skyline dotted with church steeples. Whether you stay at the hotel or not, it’s definitely a must-do for your Savannah itinerary.
We had a great brunch at the onsite restaurant, Emporium Kitchen. It’s a bistro with many French inspired dishes including a tuna Niçoise salad, French dip and croque madame. Get the truffle fries!
I love this hotel for couples, groups, and even business trips.
LEISURELY TIP: if you reach out to my travel agency, we can help book your hotel (without any fees) and can get the best rate, plus perks like complimentary upgrade, free breakfast and resort credits. Ask us about it and we’ll be happy to check hotels and rates for you with no strings attached!
3. The Thompson Savannah

The Thompson hotel is under the Hyatt Hotels umbrella as their luxury property and it’s truly beautiful.
As a newer hotel in the city, it is located in a quieter part of town along the riverfront with sweeping views of the Savannah River.
Given the location, you would want to Uber to River Street and the historic district. But, if you’re looking for a relaxing vacation off the beaten path, you’ll love The Thompson!
The lobby is meant for gathering at their main bar – Bar by Fleeting. But the showstopper is their rooftop restaurant, Julian, with views of the river and bridge. It’s a great spot to grab a bite and watch the massive cargo ships come into the Savannah River Port.
The suites are spacious with a large sofa, desk, and mini bar. The bed room was sophisticated with gray tones and a leather headboard. I loved the wood floors that still looked new even after a couple years or visitors.
Lastly, the hotel has a great pool with plenty of chairs and cabanas making it a great summer option. If you are visiting with a group of friends, this hotel is amazing for gathering together in the many communal spaces.
I love the Thompson brand for a more affordable luxury option that is great for couples or friend groups.
4. The Alida, Savannah, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel

The Alida Savannah is a 4 star property within Marriott’s Tribute portfolio hotel group included 151 guest rooms and 21 suites. It’s located right on River Street so it’s in a prime location to enjoy that area of town on the Savannah riverfront and take part in the nightlife scene.
The rooms are well appointed and very efficiently laid out. For example, they have closet space, coffee maker all tucked away within a built in cabinet hidden by the window treatments.
Their double bed room types all feature two king beds instead of the typical queen sized. It makes for a very comfortable stay if you’re traveling with a group of friends that are sharing rooms.
The pool is big and lively on a summer afternoon and you can even rent cabanas to spend a day. Enjoy light bites and cocktails from their onsite restaurant, Rhett’s.
The fitness center is one of the biggest that I’ve ever seen within a hotel with everything from peloton to free weights.
The Alida also offer a rental of their Moke to explore the city in these fun cars! If you’ve not seen a Moke, it is a low speed, open air cruiser meant for local driving. They are great for sightseeing, bachelorette parties, and definitely make a great photo op!
You’ll also love the rooftop bar that overlooks the Savannah River. I love that this space has a big fireplace for cozy fall evenings!
The Alida is perfect for group trips with it’s spacious rooms and double king bed rooms!
5. JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District

The new JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside is one of the more unique properties I’ve been to. It’s a sprawling campus across multiple building all housed within a former power plant. The place is massive.
So much that Mr. Kessler put a huge dinosaur fossil hanging across the lobby. Below it you’ll find exhibits and the largest private gemstone collection.
This resort style property has revitalized the Savannah riverfront. The hotel provides multiple dining outlets and luxury amenities like spa and wellness center.
Each building has a different theme with various options for room style. Some have more industrial elements as a nod to the former power plant and other buildings offer rooms with more feminine touches. Check out the rooms here!
The facility has an incredible rooftop pool and rooftop bar and open air garden style patio.
The location is perfect right on the Savannah plant riverside district and easy walking distance to many attractions like the city market and many of the nearby squares.
You could also easily catch the water taxi to go across the river to the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa and play a round of golf at the Harbor Golf Course.
This hotel in Savannah feels like multiple hotels in one and it’s really amazing for so many types of travelers including couples, families, group or business trips. It’s all about the room you pick here.
6. The Bohemian Hotel Savannah Riverfront
The Bohemian Hotel Savannah is another great boutique hotel choice located right on the riverfront. It is a 4-star property and part of the Marriott Autograph Collection of hotels.
I always love the Bohemian brand of hotels for the artsy vibes which feel even more suited for Savannah. Known for its Savannah College of Art & Design, the city is filled with beautiful art and has an eclectic ambiance that you can feel. This hotel really fits right into the arts scene!
The guest rooms are uniquely decorated in a bit of a maritime style. It’s more of a vintage maritime look with the wood detailing, oyster shell chandeliers, and warm tones. I recommend reserving a room with a river view, but if you prefer to see the historic city, the corner rooms with floor to ceiling windows are breathtaking!
The rooftop bar offers some of the best views in the city and be sure to inquire if they are having live music when you visit.
7. Recess Club & Hotel Savannah

One of Savannah’s newest luxury lifestyle hotels, Recess Hotel & Club is a little different from your traditional hotel concept. Part hotel, part private clubhouse, it brings together work, wellness, play and social spaces in a way that feels very current without losing the charm of being in the Historic District. This is a hotel I have not been to yet, but as soon as I heard about it, I knew I I had to include in this round up!
And, my clients get great perks here like $100 hotel credit, free upgrades and complimentary breakfast. Inquire to book this hotel or browse on my client portal to self book thousands of hotels around the world with my VIP perks (must request access first)!
The hotel is from the same team behind Hotel Bardo, which I raved about earlier in this guide and you can see that same attention to design throughout Recess. I especially love the chic rooftop spaces, beautiful bathrooms and the location. You can walk straight out the door and be in the middle of some of the best of Savannah.
Recess also makes a lot of sense for a work trip or a longer stay when you need somewhere that can function beyond just a hotel room. There is an onsite spa, a spacious gym and coworking spaces, so you can work for a few hours, squeeze in a workout or treatment, and then head out to explore the city.
And then there are the Rumpus Rooms. Each floor has its own room filled with more than 100 vintage games, which is such a fun and nostalgic touch. It gives the hotel a social, playful side that you don’t always find in a luxury property and makes it especially appealing for groups, families or friends traveling together.
The guest rooms themselves are fairly simple, but they are comfortable and thoughtfully designed, with desks, spacious bathrooms and everything you need for a comfortable stay. For families and groups, the bunk rooms are a particularly fun option. They are designed so everyone can stay together without giving up personal space or comfort!
If you’re looking for a traditional grand Savannah hotel, Recess isn’t quite that. But if you want somewhere stylish, social and a little more modern, with plenty to do without ever needing to leave the property, I think it is one of the most exciting new additions to Savannah’s hotel scene!
