Dubai is a city of contrasts—where ultramodern skyscrapers rise from golden deserts, and opulence meets deep-rooted culture. It’s a place that can feel larger than life, but with the right Dubai itinerary, it’s easy to enjoy at your own pace.
We visited Dubai for 4 days as part of our honeymoon after a dreamy trip to the Seychelles. Since we had family friends stationed there, it was the perfect excuse to visit—and get a local’s perspective on the city.
Our travel style is a little different. We don’t try to do everything just because it’s on a must-see list. Instead, we like to take it slow, focus on amazing food, and soak up a city the way locals do. For example, we loved seeing the Burj Khalifa but didn’t feel the need to go to the top. Instead, we spent our time balancing adventure with relaxation—enjoying the desert, lounging at the beach, experiencing the culture, and finding the best places to eat.
If that sounds like your kind of trip, this 4 day Dubai itinerary is for you. Whether it’s your first visit or you’re returning for more, this guide to 4 days in Dubai will help you plan an unforgettable experience.

Day 1: Dubai Itinerary Begins with Arrival and Beach Relaxation
Land in Dubai and check into a luxury beachfront hotel. We stayed at Four Seasons Resort Jumeirah Beach, and I can’t recommend it enough. Our friends who live in Dubai suggested it, and they were spot on—it was perfect. The beaches were stunning, it wasn’t in the overly touristy Palm area, and it was a quick drive to both Old Dubai and Downtown Dubai. As a couple, we loved the adults-only pool, incredible restaurants, and amazing spa. However, it’s great for families too with a kids pool, beach access, and kid-friendly menus.

Getting from the Airport to Your Hotel
There are plenty of ways to get from DXB to your hotel, including taxis, the metro, and private transfers. My top tip? Have your hotel arrange a driver. We did, and it made arrival seamless. No waiting for a rideshare app to load, no hassle—just a stress-free ride straight to our hotel.
Afternoon: Hit the Beach
After settling in, head to Jumeirah Beach for a relaxing afternoon. This stretch of coastline is perfect for unwinding, with soft white sand, crystal-clear water, and plenty of amenities. You’ll find sunbeds, umbrellas, and beach clubs offering drinks and light bites. If you’re up for some adventure, try jet skiing, paddleboarding, or just take a refreshing dip while soaking in views.
One thing I loved about Jumeirah Beach? It’s incredibly clean and family-friendly, making it a great option whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or with kids.
Pro tip: Locals will be dressed modest on the beaches. Swimsuits are definitely allowed, but you might feel more comfortable in a one piece and maxi style coverup!

Evening: Sunset Drinks & Dinner at the Hotel
For our first night, we kept things simple and ordered room service at the Four Seasons—and it was divine. After a long travel day, sometimes the best thing is enjoying a great meal in a plush robe with a stunning view.
But if you’re up for heading out, Dubai has no shortage of incredible dining spots. Bait Maryam is high on my list for next time after seeing it on Somebody Feed Phil. This cozy, family-run spot serves authentic Palestinian and Jordanian dishes, with Maryam’s daughter, Salam Daqqaq, continuing her mother’s culinary legacy.
Day 2: Dubai Desert Safari & Dubai Mall Evening
Day 2 is packed with adventure including a desert safari and an evening at the Dubai Fountain Show!
Morning: Desert Safari Adventure
Start your second day in Dubai with a luxury eco-friendly desert safari—one of the most unforgettable experiences of our trip. I don’t condone dune bashing or sandboarding since they can harm the fragile desert ecosystem, so we opted for a sustainable safari with a company that prioritizes conservation. Check out my review of Platinum Heritage Safaris here.

We rode camels named Raja and Jabar across the dunes, wearing traditional headscarves provided by our guides. The desert is breathtaking—vast, peaceful, and unlike anything else. After the ride, we enjoyed a traditional Bedouin-style breakfast at Al Maha Resort, complete with Arabic coffee, fresh dates, and delicious local dishes. We also spotted wildlife like the gorgeous White Onyx!
This was hands down my favorite part of visiting Dubai. The desert is pure magic, and camel riding made it feel even more special. If you’re looking for an authentic, responsible way to experience the Dubai desert, I can’t recommend this enough!
Pro tip: go in the morning or late in the evening to avoid the heat!
Afternoon: Explore Dubai Mall & Burj Khalifa
After your morning in the desert, head back to the city and spend the late afternoon at Dubai Mall—not just a shopping center but a full-on experience. With high-end boutiques, an Olympic-sized ice rink, an indoor aquarium, and endless dining options, there’s plenty to explore even if you’re not into shopping.
See the Burj Khalifa
If seeing the Burj Khalifa is on your list, you can take the elevator to the observation deck for panoramic views over Dubai. But to be honest, we were happy just seeing it from the ground or from a rooftop restaurant—it’s just as impressive without the tour!

Evening: Italian Dinner at Bice Mare & Dubai Fountain Show
For dinner, our local friends took us to Bice Mare, one of their favorite spots that overlooks the Dubai Fountain Show. Watching the fountains dance with the Burj Khalifa as a backdrop while enjoying delicious Italian food? Pretty surreal.
If you want great Italian food with a view, Bice Mare is a solid choice. The seafood pasta was excellent, and the atmosphere made for a memorable night in Dubai. It is right inside the Dubai Mall so this a convenient stop all around!
Day 3: Explore Historic Old Dubai
On day 3 of our Dubai itinerary, you will enjoy some of the unique culture found in Dubai!
Morning: Explore Old Dubai and Al Fahidi Historical District
Step back in time with a visit to Al Fahidi Historical District, one of the most charming and culturally rich areas of Dubai. The narrow lanes, traditional wind-tower architecture, and hidden courtyards offer a glimpse into the city’s past before the skyscrapers took over. It’s quiet, picturesque, and a great way to experience the history of Dubai.
Next, visit the Dubai Museum before hopping on an abra (traditional wooden boat) to cross Dubai Creek. I absolutely loved this ride—the view is incredible as you watch Old Dubai’s historic buildings transition into the towering skyscrapers of New Dubai. It’s such a cool perspective of the city’s evolution.
If you want a guided tour, this one is top rated and will take you to all of these spots while sharing more history. We went on our own, but a guide a would have been nice!

Dubai Spice and Gold Souks
Once across the creek, make sure to visit the Spice and Gold Souks. Wandering through the stalls filled with vibrant spices, perfumes, and intricate gold jewelry was such a unique experience. Even if you’re not shopping, it’s worth visiting just to take in the atmosphere.

Snacks at Arabian Tea House
Before leaving Old Dubai, stop for a snack at Arabian Tea House. This spot is super charming and an absolute must—it’s the perfect place to try authentic Emirati flavors in a peaceful courtyard setting. The mint lemonade and regag (Emirati crepe) were my favorites!

Afternoon: Luxury Lunch & Beach Relaxation
For lunch, head to SAL at Burj Al Arab, a stunning beachside restaurant at Dubai’s most iconic hotel. We couldn’t visit Dubai without seeing the famous sail-shaped Burj Al Arab, and lunch here was the perfect way to experience it without the need for a full hotel stay. It’s not exactly my taste for a hotel. The setting was incredible—overlooking the infinity pool and the Persian Gulf—and the food was just as impressive.
After lunch, slow down and soak up the sun. Spend the afternoon lounging by the beach or pool, whether at your hotel or a luxury beach club. Dubai does relaxation just as well as it does adventure, and this is the perfect time to enjoy it!

Evening: Dinner with a View & Call to Prayer Experience
For a breathtaking sunset dinner, head to Mercury Rooftop at Four Seasons Jumeirah. The views here are unreal—you’re high above the city, watching the skyline glow as day fades into night. It’s the perfect spot to unwind with a cocktail, soak in the atmosphere, and enjoy a delicious meal. BTW – drinks are allowed at hotels!
One of the most unforgettable moments of our trip was hearing the call to prayer from the rooftop. You’ll hear it throughout the day in Dubai, but experiencing it at night—with the city lights twinkling and the sound echoing through the skyline—was something truly special. I love hearing the call to prayer, and in that moment, it felt especially moving.
If you’re looking for an elegant, scenic dinner spot, Mercury Rooftop delivers on both ambiance and flavor. It was the perfect way to end the day.

Day 4: Relax with a Spa Day and Beach Time
Today is all about relaxing and indulging in the luxuries of Dubai!
Morning: Spa Experience
Start your final day in Dubai with pure relaxation at a luxury spa. I booked a 90-minute massage at the Four Seasons, and it was easily one of the best spa experiences I’ve ever had. Just imagine how over-the-top Dubai is—now apply that level of luxury to a spa, and you get the idea. The service, the ambiance, and the attention to detail were next level.
If you’re looking for another ultra-luxurious option, One&Only The Palm also has an incredible spa that’s worth considering. Either way, this is the perfect way to unwind and soak in a little self-care before heading back to the beach for one last day in paradise.
Afternoon: Beach Day or Luxury Yacht Cruise
Spend your last afternoon in Dubai fully unwinding by the beach. Dubai’s resorts offer some of the most beautiful beachfront settings, so take advantage of the soft sand, warm water, and incredible service one last time. Whether you’re lounging with a book, taking a dip in the infinity pool, or just soaking in the views, it’s the perfect way to close out the trip.
I wish we had time for a sail around Dubai—there are so many luxury yachts available for charter. An afternoon boat cruise would be an amazing way to see the skyline from the water, especially at sunset. If you have the time, this would be such a dreamy way to spend your final day! Plus, it’s the best way to beat the heat!
Evening: Farewell Dinner at ROKA
Wrap up your 4 days in Dubai with an unforgettable Japanese robatayaki-style dinner at ROKA. This was hands down one of the best meals I’ve ever had—fresh sushi, perfectly grilled fish, and an over-the-top dessert that was almost too pretty to eat.
The sleek, stylish ambiance and incredible service made it the perfect farewell dinner to end our Dubai adventure. If you’re a fan of Japanese cuisine, ROKA is a must—the flavors, presentation, and attention to detail were all next level. You can sit inside or on the outdoor terrace – each option offers great views! It was the perfect way to toast to an amazing trip!

Dubai has so much to offer—whether you’re seeking adventure, culture, or luxury, there’s something for everyone!

Final Tips for Visiting Dubai
When planning a Dubai itinerary 4 days long, keep these things in mind!
Best Time to Visit Dubai
The winter months (November to March) offer the most pleasant weather. We went in April, and while it was warm, it was still very nice! Our visit also coincided with Ramadan, which was a unique experience—many restaurants were still open, but it’s good to be mindful of local customs during this time.
Dress Code in Dubai
Dubai is modern, but respectful attire is appreciated, especially in cultural areas. In tourist spots, you can get away with more relaxed outfits, but most people dress fairly modestly, with shoulders covered. When visiting Old Dubai, covering your knees and shoulders is a good rule of thumb. If you visit a mosque, they usually provide coverings.

Getting Around Dubai
Taxis and Uber are the best ways to navigate the city. We used Uber everywhere, and it was super easy and reliable. If you’re staying at a luxury hotel, I also highly recommend having them arrange a private driver—it’s stress-free and worth it!
