Travel to Europe will now require one additional step, although a simple one: The ETIAS travel requirement. There are currently 60+ countries that do not require any type of visa upon entry to the EU based on their good track records and low threat. This will allow the EU to strengthen their security by gaining additional information from those travelers and their backgrounds. The additional screening will allow officials to digitally screen and track visitors entering and leaving the area.

- Now expected to start in 2025.
- It is not a visa, but a visa-waiver for travelers who do not currently require a visa (USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc).
- Each traveler will require the new ETIAS regardless of age
- Cost is 7 Euro, but will be FREE for those over 70 or under 18
- Should take only minutes to be approved after completing the application, but may take up to 96 hours.
- It will be valid for 3 years after approval or until your passport expires.
- ETIAS is required for all 26 countries in the Schengen Zone.
- Not required for citizens of EU countries or those that already require a visa.
- The approved application will be checked by your airline, ship, etc. If not approved, you will not be allowed to board.
